Ratchet Clank Ranger Rumble Cancelled

Sony's free-to-play mobile spin-off Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble has been cancelled before it ever got a full release, and if you're one of the UK players who got in during the soft launch, you've got until May 1, 2027 before the servers switch off for good.

The news came in a statement on the game's official website today (November 6), with the team behind it saying they'd "made the difficult decision to cease development", as reported by VGC and Gematsu, and the game was being made by mobile studio Oh BiBi in partnership with Insomniac.

Captain Qwark's pass is free now, at least

The final planned update is rolling out on the App Store and Google Play now, and the game will be pulled from both stores on November 21, so anyone who hasn't downloaded it by then won't be able to grab it afterwards.

If you already have it installed, you can keep playing right up until the servers close on May 1, 2027, and the official FAQ says all the current modes and matchmaking will stay switched on until then, which gives you a good six months of chaotic arena shooting to say your goodbyes.

In-app purchases have already been removed and the Super Pass is now free for everyone, so every reward in each Qwark Pass season can be earned just by playing, while any currency you've earned or bought can still be spent on upgrades, cosmetics and characters until the shutdown.

If you spent real money on the game and want it back, the FAQ says refunds are handled by Apple and Google rather than the developer, so you'll need to go through the App Store or Google Play to see whether you're eligible.

Ranger Rumble was first announced in November 2025 as a fast-paced multiplayer platformer arena shooter, and it soft-launched in the Philippines and Indonesia before spreading to the Nordics, Canada and, according to Gematsu, the UK in August 2026, though it never made the jump to a full worldwide release.

The statement also makes clear that the cancellation doesn't affect any other Ratchet & Clank games or PlayStation services, so the main series is safe, and if you fancy a refresher on everything the Lombax and his robot pal have been up to, our Ratchet & Clank story so far is a good place to start.

Well, at least the bolts are on the house for the next six months.
