A headset is one of the most important elements of any gaming set, but there are so many options at every pricing level now that it can be tough to find one that covers all bases. The OXS Storm G2 Wireless Gaming Headset, however, is one that’s caught my attention for all the right reasons - and not just the lighting.
With its sleek design, great sound quality, and reliable wireless connectivity, it quickly proved that it has more to offer than just the usual features you'd expect from a mid-range option. After putting the headset through its paces during several long gaming sessions, I found myself pleasantly surprised by its performance, although I did have some issues with clarity when chatting with the squad.

Pros
Clear, well-balanced audio with decent surround sound
Lightweight and comfortable for extended use
Stylish design
Cons
The microphone is average compared to pricier options
Bring the storm
Inside the box, you'll find the headset, a detachable boom mic, charging cable, and a 3.5mm jack (remember those?).
One of the first things I noticed is just how comfortable the OXS Storm G2 is, even during longer sessions. The lightweight design and soft ear cushions make it easy to forget you’re even wearing a headset, which is exactly what you need when you’re deep into a marathon Fortnite run with the squad. The adjustable headband fits snugly without causing pressure, and it’s one of the few headsets that hasn’t given me a headache from the weight.
Other headsets in this price range can feel like a vice grip on your skull, but the OXS Storm G2 is comfortable, but firm, in a way many others can't match - at least at this price (around $80).
Sound of the storm
The OXS Storm G2 brings a solid audio experience with 50mm drivers that deliver clear and balanced sound across the board. Whether you're trying to pinpoint enemy footsteps or get lost in the soundtrack of your favourite cosy game, the sound stays crisp and detailed throughout.
The virtual surround sound adds an extra layer of depth to help immerse you in the game. It's not quite on the same level as high-end spatial audio tech, but it still does a good job of making you feel like you’re right in the thick of it, particularly in this price range, with footsteps in Fortnite being easy to identify the source of.
I’m less impressed by the mic, though. It’s detachable, so you can switch to a desktop one if you’d prefer, and there was some lack of clarity in the middle of heated gunfights. It’s the kind of thing that will likely get better the more I use it, sure - but it’s something to consider.
Thankfully, wireless connectivity is reliable, even when stepping away from my desk to grab a snack, and battery life is good, too - with 40 hours on a single charge. That's multiple marathon sessions in a row before needing a charge, which is always appreciated if, like me, you forget to plug it in.
The Verdict
While the mic could be clearer, the OXS Storm G2 is a great pick-up for a gamer on a budget. It won’t go toe-to-toe with the likes of high-end options like the Astro A50X, but it will offer a comfortable experience with enough juice for a lengthy gaming session with friends.
