The MW2 DMZ Scientist Apartment key is found randomly during your adventures around Al Mazrah. The most common ways to gain the key is by killing enemies and looting them, finishing HVT contracts, or looting containers.
After you've collected the relevant key, you will need to head toward the Zaya Observatory area, which is roughly in the lower middle part of the map.
The building with the Scientist's Apartment can be found toward the south of the area, below the southernmost dome and to the east. You'll know you're in the right building if you head inside and find the staircase in the middle of the building.
Head up the stairs to the first floor, and take a left. At the end of the hall, you will find a door with a white X spray-painted on the front. Use the key and then head inside to collect your loot.
As always, you will need to be careful when approaching this area as there are plenty of AI foes either on the approach to the key location or directly surrounding the key.
