How to unlock & use Amps in The Outlast Trials
Read here to learn how Amps work in The Outlast Trials, which are huge buffs to help aid you in the trials. You can get them from the NPC Dorris in the cafeteria.
Amps in The Outlast Trials are designed to give you an edge in combat and can be equipped as part of your loadout when entering new trails, making them necessary perks for escaping the horrors of the facility in one piece.
Learn more about how they work and how to get them below, so you can gain some powerful benefits in the game.
Where can you get Amps?
Amps are listed as contraband items, as such you must buy them through the NPC Dorris rather than the other Murkoff NPCs in the game like Nurse Barlow and Noakes.
You can usually find Dorris sitting in the cafeteria area on the top floor of the institute (you'll need to complete the tutorial first to access the institute area).
Dorris is a retired fellow test subject who has seen her fair share of the torturous trials and now makes a living sneaking contraband items into the facility's sleep room.
She will only do business with you once you reach therapy level 10, however, meaning you'll need to complete a fair number of trials and gather XP before unlocking Amps in your game.
All Amps
There are a total of 24 Amps to get from Dorris, each will unlock in levels of two from the first, meaning that the first Amp will unlock at level 10, the second at level 12, the third at 14 etc.
Amps come in three forms: Tool, Skill, and Medicine. Here are all the Amps currently in the game, sorted by their type:

How to use Amps
You can equip Amps from the main terminal in the institute area. Select the 'Loadout' menu to choose the three Amps you wish to take with you into the trials, as well as the choice of Rig and Prescriptions.
All three of these systems are designed to help you through the increasingly challenging trials that the Murkoff facility will throw at you.
