Transmog
With so much gear available in the game, many players will want to know if it's possible to transmog in Starfield and change your gear's appearance.
Transmog, or transmogrification, is a gaming term that refers to the ability to change how an item looks in the game without changing its stats or features. This would be especially helpful in a game like Starfield where there are a number of excellent-looking outfits that might not be the most durable when it comes to stats.
Thankfully we'll explain everything you need to know about transmog in Starfield below, so make sure to keep reading for all of the details.

Can you transmog in Starfield?
Unfortunately it is currently not possible to transmog in Starfield. There's no way that we know of to change your gear's appearance so that it looks like another item.
If this feature was available, players would be able to use the stats and abilities of one item (like a Helmet or Spacesuit) while keeping the appearance of a different one. Sadly, this isn't something we can actually do in the game right now.
The only thing you can do is remove your Helmet and Spacesuit in settlements. This helps you get a better look at your character in these areas, but you won't be able to change how your gear actually looks when you're out on your expeditions.

Will transmog be added in Starfield?
There's no word on whether transmog will be added into Starfield as a feature. It's not impossible, but it's not exactly a staple of previous Bethesda titles.
However, you can use mods to add effects to various gear, so if you really like the look of an item you can customise it to your liking. This isn't the same as changing its appearance, but it's something.
Again, we're not sure if transmog is ever going to be added to Starfield. There might be mods created by the community in the future that allow you to transmog gear, so it might be worth keeping an eye out for that.
