One of the first side quests you'll come across in Starfield Shattered Space is The Duel, which sees you getting involved in a family drama where two brothers are set to fight each other to the death.
Here's how to complete the quest and which choice you should make toward the end.
Starting The Duel
The quest begins when you approach and speak to the two arguing brothers in the central plaza of Dazra.
You'll need to speak to the council as part of the main quest before this, but once you leave them and come out of the elevator, make your down the nearby steps toward the large statue to find them.
Talking to the brothers
If you accept the quest and become Amila's second, you will be tasked with following Danika to the Adlam family home.
She tells you a little about the duelling ritual, your roles as seconds, and then asks you to speak to both brothers to try and find a way to solve the problem without violence.
The objective here can be done by following the quest markers and speaking to both brothers: Amila in a nearby bar, and Borhal in the family home.
You only need to select one dialogue option with both to pass this objective, but you can use a Persuasion check to get both of them to open up more.
Amila will tell you about the source of his addiction, and Borhal will talk about how he could never help his brother despite constantly trying.
Learning all this information doesn't actually have an effect on the quest, but instead colours it and will likely contribute to what decision you'll make at the end.
Once you've chatted with both brothers, return to Danika and speak to her. She will ask you to put a tranquilliser in both of the ceremonial drinks the brothers will drink before their duel.
When you approach the drink, you will have four options to choose from. Here's what they all do:
Who to tranquillise?
Tranquillise Amila
With this option, Borhal will kill Amila in the duel, believing it to be an act. He does come to regret asking for the duel, though.
Reward: 5000 Credits
Tranquillise Borhal
Amila kills Borhal with this choice by taking advantage of the situation. He also regrets taking part in the duel afterwards.
Reward: 5000 Credits
Tranquillise Both
If you drug both the drinks, the brothers will both be affected and unable to begin the duel. They are both angry at the player and Danika afterwards for stopping them from fighting, but Danika believes it will stop them from duelling again in the future.
Reward: 4000 Credits
Tranquillise Nobody
The duel goes ahead as normal and Borhal kills Amila easily. He still regrets his actions during this state, and Danika is annoyed at you for not intervening with the tranquilliser.
Reward: 5000 Credits
Regardless of your choice, the quest will finish after the duel occurs or doesn't occur, and you speak to Danika.
