If you’re wondering how to dock your ship in Starfield, then your search ends here. Docking the ship in Starfield means connecting your ship to another spacecraft or space station, as it is necessary for completing certain quests in the game.
On top of that, docking your ship in Starfield allows you to access new areas that you may not be able to reach otherwise. You can also meet and interact with new characters to discover the storyline.
With that said, here’s a guide to help you in docking your ship in Starfield.
How & where to dock your ship in Starfield
To dock your ship in Starfield, follow these steps:
- First of all, you will need to find your target and lock it by pressing the A button on the Xbox controller or the E button on the PC
- After locking into your target, you will need to be within 500 meters of it
- Once you meet the above requirements, hold down the interaction button displayed on the screen to start the docking process
- Finally, you have to wait for the docking cutscene to finish
After the cutscene, you can either board the ship or station and undock again whenever you want.

How to dock an enemy ship in Starfield
To dock an enemy ship in Starfield, you need to disable the enemy ship's engines first by targeting the ship and damaging its engines. The rest of the process is the same as above i.e. approach the enemy ship, get within 500 meters of it, and press the interaction button to start the docking process.
It’s worth noting that you will encounter various enemies once you're on board their ship. Therefore, make sure you have enough supplies before initiating the battle. Moreover, docking onto an enemy ship is more complicated than docking onto a friendly ship or space station, as you are required to disable the enemy ship's engines first.
