If you enjoy fishing in Stardew Valley, the brand-new Sea, River, and Cave Jellies introduced in the 1.6 Update may pique your interest. Sea, River, and Cave Jelly all populate different types of bodies of water, and with as many types of fish as there are in Stardew Valley, you'll need to know where to look if you hope to catch these Jellies.
This primer details where to find and how to get the game's new Jellies and what purpose Sea, River, and Cave Jelly serve in Stardew Valley.
How to get Sea Jelly
Sea Jelly is available in Stardew Valley year-round, but it's exclusive to the Beach, the Beach Farm, the deep-sea fishing tour at the Night Market, select areas on Ginger Island, and a Fish Pond with at least seven Flounder inside it. Buffing your Luck will increase your chances of catching Sea Jelly.
Fishing isn't the only way to get Sea Jelly, though. You can visit the Bookseller and trade a Jewels Of The Sea for three Sea Jelly, and you can also receive Sea Jelly as a gift from a pet turtle.
Consuming Sea Jelly will grant 88 Energy, 39 Health, and a temporary buff to your Fishing. You can sell Sea Jelly for 200 Gold or use it to craft a Fish Smoker.
How to get River Jelly
River Jelly inhabits the rivers and ponds of Stardew Valley, so you can find it in basically every freshwater ecosystem across Pelican Town, Cindersap Forest, the Desert, the Secret Woods, Ginger Island, and all Farms aside from the Standard and Beach Farms. Furthermore, a Fish Pond with at least seven Midnight Carp will occasionally produce River Jelly.
As with Sea Jelly, the higher your Luck, the better your chances are of encountering River Jelly. If fishing isn't working out, you can exchange a Jewels Of The Sea at the Bookseller for three River Jelly.
Eating a River Jelly will temporarily increase your Max Energy by 30 and replenish 75 Energy and 33 Health. Additionally, you can sell River Jelly for 125 Gold a pop or use it as an ingredient in crafting a Fish Smoker.
How to get Cave Jelly
You'll find Cave Jelly deep in the Mines on floors 20, 60, and 100. Your Luck plays a significant role in your odds of catching Cave Jelly. Other ways to get Cave Jelly include harvesting a Fish Pond with at least eight Lava Eels and trading in a Jewels Of The Sea to the Bookseller.
Ingesting a Cave Jelly will give you a nonpermanent boost to your Luck, 75 Energy, and 33 Health. It sells for 180 Gold, and like the Sea and River Jellies, it's a key ingredient in creating a Fish Smoker.
These Jellies are relatively rare, so don't be surprised if they take a while to find, even if you're fishing in the right spots. Sea, River, and Cave Jelly are definitely worth holding onto when you do eventually catch them, though, as consuming these Jellies provides great benefits, and they fetch a fine price, too.
