Best Slowbro Cinderace Build
Full Build
With its range of learnable moves and stats, Slowbro can counter Cinderace in every way. In this, the ideal Slowbro Cinderace build is optimised in Defense to offset Cinderace's Attack prowess, whilst Slowbro is bolstered in Sp. Atk - made even more deadly with a power-stacking moveset.
The best Slowbro Cinderace build for the 7-star Tera raid is as follows:
- Ability: Oblivious/Own Tempo
- Nature: Modest
- Tera Type: Psychic
- Hold Item: Life Orb
- EVs: 252 Defense, 252 SP. Atk, 6 HP
- Moveset: Iron Defense, Nasty Plot, Slack Off, Stored Power
The only redundant part of the Slowbro Cinderace build is Slowbro's ability. That's because neither Cinderace's nor its own move set features anything that would make Oblivious or Own Tempo of any use.
Strategy
The strategy of the Slowbro Cinderace build comes down to the Psychic-type's only damage-inflicting move in this set: Stored Power. Starting with 20 Base Power, every stat increase with raise said Base Power by another 20.
So, using Iron Defense and Nasty Plot to increase Defense and Sp. Atk by six stages each, Stored Power can have a max 260 Base Power. That's even before taking the other factors of the Slowbro Cinderace build into account - like its Psychic Tera Type giving it further STAB (same type attack bonus) damage.
When considering EVs, there has been debate over whether to invest more into Slowbro's Sp. Atk or HP. You can go with either depending on your preference, but evidently, Sp. Atk would be the best to put the most in since we want this Slowbro to hit as hard as possible whilst still resisting damage via Iron Defense and its buffed Defense stat.
To supplement this, that's why the Slowbro Cinderace build also works best with a Modest nature, further raising the Sp. Atk stat whilst lowering the superfluous Attack stat. Combined with Nasty Plot, raising Sp. Atk by two stages with every use, this particular Slowbro will be as heavy a hitter as possible.
Using a Life Orb as Slowbro's Held Item adds to this as well - boosting the damage-inflicting moves of the holder by 30%, with a cost of 10% of its HP with each use of one of these moves.
If you're worried about the loss of HP, that's where Slack Off comes in. Essentially a newer version of Recover, Slack Off restores the user up to half of its max HP with each use. After maxing out your Defense using Iron Defense, you shouldn't need to use this too often, but it's still essential for Slowbro's tank durability throughout the raid.
