The Sims 4 relationship cheats to modify friendship, romance & pets
Here are all the relationship cheats for The Sims 4, including how to modify friendships, romance, and pet relationships for all your storytelling needs.
The Sims 4 is well-known for its many different cheats that can be used in-game to help players modify relationships, skip parts of gameplay entirely, or even grant infinite money to their virtual people.
Quickly boosting a relationship between Sims, whether it be for friendship, romance, or between a Sim and their pet, can be particularly useful from a storyteller perspective, especially if you're creating loads of different households to populate your world with - as that's how I tend to use them myself in-game.
All relationship cheats for The Sims 4
Romantic relationships
There are only two romantic relationship cheats that you need to know about for The Sims 4, and one will lower that romantic rating, whereas the other will increase it:
Cheat | Code |
Increase romantic relationship | ModifyRelationship (Sim1) (Sim2) 100 LTR_Romance_Main |
Decrease romantic relationships | ModifyRelationship (Sim1) (Sim2) -100 LTR_Romance_Main |
When entering the cheat, you'll need to replace the (Sim1) and (Sims2) sections of the code with the first and last names of the two particular Sims, making sure to ensure that 'Sim1' is your currently controlled Sim.
For example, in the case of the above screenshot, I entered 'ModifyRelationship Tana Mete Sara Yuen 100 LTR_Romance_Main' - without the single quotation marks.
Additionally, the value can be adjusted too, which will place their relationship at different points on the scale instead of the extreme ends.
So, if you want to create a newly sparked romantic relationship with a Sim and their beau, you could enter 45 instead of 100. Or you can go the other way entirely to create a love-hate relationship by setting it to something like -62.
Friendship cheats
Taking the format for romantic relationships, you can also enter very similar codes to adjust relationships between friends or with a Sim and their pet:
Cheat |
Code |
Increase a Sim's relationship with a pet |
ModifyRelationship (SimName) (PetName) 100 LTR_SimtoPet_Friendship_Main |
Decrease a Sim's relationship with a pet |
ModifyRelationship (SimName) (PetName) -100 LTR_SimtoPet_Friendship_Main |
Increase friendship |
ModifyRelationship (Sim1) (Sim2) 100 LTR_Friendship_Main |
Decrease friendship |
ModifyRelationship (Sim1) (Sim2) -100 LTR_Friendship_Main |
The rules laid out in the previous section apply here also. It's a pretty easy process to do, especially if you don't have one of The Sims 4's many mods like the MC Command Center downloaded.
How to enable cheats in The Sims 4
Now that you know which cheats you can use for relationships in The Sims 4, you'll need to know how to enable them. If you're familiar with cheating, it's the same process as entering any other code, but if you're new to the process, here's what to do:
- Press CTRL + Shift + C if on PC
- Use Command + Shift + C if on Mac
- Press all four bumpers in on console
Once you've done that, a white box with show up in the top-left of your screen. In there, type 'testingcheats on' and enter it. There'll then be a bit of text in that window to confirm the feature is enabled.
With that, you'll be on your way to crafting different relationships for your Sims without needing to manually play them all out - neat, right?
