Being able to catch Charmander and even add Charmeleon and Charizard to your collection is one of the most exciting parts of The Indigo Disk DLC in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet; that's if you know the location where to find it thanks to this guide.

With its evolution being one of the most beloved Pocket Monsters of all time, it's easy to understand why both veteran trainers and newcomers will be after the original Fire-type starter. So, let's dive into Charmander's Indigo Disk location.

How to get Charmander in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

You'll be able to find Charmander at the Savanna Biome in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet's Indigo Disk; but first, you'll need to donate 3000 BP to complete the corresponding Terarium Club request on the Support Board in the League Club Room - allowing you to "boost biodiversity" in the biome.

Completing each of these quests for every biome is essential if you want to catch all of the other returning starters returning in the DLC as well - like Turtwig or Piplup

How to get more BP

If you're short on BP to get Charmander into the Savannah Biome, you can get more by completing Blueberry Quests - or BBQs as they're called - which you can access by pressing right on your D-pad.

There will be some grinding required to get the 3000 BP needed per biome, so you'll need to be prepared for a sizable time investment. We've got a BP farming guide to help you speed up the process.

After you've donated enough BP to complete the quest, you'll soon spot Charmander by wandering about the bottom-right area of the Savanna Biome as shown above. I've found it to be a fairly common spawn, so it shouldn't take you long.

How to evolve Charmander into Charmeleon

Charmander will easily evolve into Charmeleon once it reaches Level 16. Afterwards, the evolution will trigger automatically.

However, if your Charmander is already at Level 16 and above, there's no need to worry; the evolution will still occur whenever it levels up once more. If you wish to avoid grinding for experience points, you can instead use a Rare Candy or Exp. Candies to speed things up.

How to evolve Charmeleon into Charizard

For the final stage, Charmeleon will evolve into Charizard once it's at Level 36. Thankfully, you won't need any special evolution items or methods to do this.

Like when evolving Charmander, any Charmeleon already at Level 36 and above will still have the process activated every time it levels up.

Is there any other way to get Charmander?

You can also get a Charmander by breeding the Charizard the Unrivaled boss that trainers had the chance to catch during its Tera Raid event.

If you missed the Tera Raid though, it's still likely other trainers have bred their Charizard already - with there being a chance you could trade a Charmander from a friend.

That's everything you need to know about how to get Charmander. If you're after the other Kanto starters in the game, find out where to find Bulbasaur or where to find Squirtle in The Indigo Disk DLC.
