The Spring Cup has sprung in the Pokemon GO Battle League, offering Trainers a chance to show off their best teams of Fairy, Grass, and Water-type Pokemon on the battlefield.

With a 1500 CP limit, Mantine and Toxapex banned from entering, and only three types eligible to take part, this colourful competition is going to test your team-building expertise. The good news is that dual-type Pokemon are allowed to enter, which does spice things up a bit.

Best team for the Spring Cup

One of the best teams you can use in the Spring Cup is Galarian Weezing, Tentacruel, and Trevenant.

A quick glance at PvPoke will show you that Galarian Weezing is set up nicely to be the biggest threat in this cup. That's no surprise, really - it's resistant to Fairy-type and Grass-type attacks, takes neutral damage from Water-type attacks, and has an excellent moveset that can deal with most opponents it comes across.

With Galarian Weezing being the one to watch, you'll definitely want a Pokemon that can counter it on your team. That's where Tentacruel comes in. While it's not super-effective against this smoking monster, it does boast resistance to most of its attacks, giving it the opportunity to swoop in and claim victory.

Tentacruel can also deal with any Grass-types you come across, thanks to the Charged Move Scald. That just leaves one final spot on your team, which should go to a Pokemon that can target Water-type opponents. My recommendation is Trevenant, as it has a great moveset and some useful resistances.

The main thing to remember when forming a team for the Spring Cup is type coverage. With only three types eligible to enter, you should aim for coverage against Fairy, Grass, and Water-type opponents. Aside from that, make sure your Pokemon are as close to the 1500 CP limit as possible.

When does the Spring Cup run?

The Spring Cup will launch on Friday, March 8, 2024, at 1PM PT / 4PM ET / 9PM GMT, and end on March 22, 2024.

It will run alongside the traditional Ultra League in its first week and the traditional Master League in its second week. I've linked guides to my team recommendations if you want some help with those leagues!
