Gimmighoul is a Ghost-type Pokemon that can be found in chests across Pokemon GO's Paldea region, and if players collect 999 Gimmighoul coins, they can evolve them into the pound shop version of the Cheese String Man, Gholdengo.

However, this Reddit nightmare creature is being freed from the confines of its chest in a brand new form - Roaming Gimmighoul. If you’re really that desperate to catch em’ all you want to add Roaming Form Gimmighoul to your team, you’ll need to link your Pokemon GO accounts to Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

How to connect your account with Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

To catch Roaming Form Gimmighoul, Pokemon GO players will need to send postcards to themselves in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Here are all the steps you need to complete to link your two accounts:

First, launch Pokemon Scarlet & Violet and open the ‘Pokemon Portal’ with the X menu.

Next, select ‘Mystery Gift’, then ‘Connect to Pokemon GO. If you haven’t already linked your accounts to receive Meltan, you should see the option ‘Pair with a Pokemon GO account’.

You’ll now need to launch Pokemon GO on your phone and open up your settings, which can be done by clicking the icon in the top right. If you scroll down, you should see the option ‘Connected Devices and Settings’, then ‘Connect to Nintendo Switch’. If you’re having trouble, make sure your Bluetooth is enabled on both devices.

This can be done once per day. Make sure you don’t accidentally press the disconnect button when you’re pairing them, because otherwise you’ll have to wait 24 hours before you can try again. Don’t ask me how I know that!

Once you click that, you’ll need to confirm the pairing by clicking ‘Yes’ on your Nintendo Switch.

Next, select Connect to Pokemon GO’ on your Nintendo Switch.

Back to your phone! Tap on your profile in the bottom left and open up your ‘Postcard Book’. You can pick any pinned postcard received from a friend. I just so happened to choose my fellow hometown legend and GGRecon writing bestie Ben Williams. You can pick someone less cool, that's okay.

You’ll be able to send this to your Nintendo Switch by clicking the icon with three bars. Click Send, then Yes, then Okay.

If you open up your inventory in Pokemon GO, you should see a Coin Bag. If you click on this and select ‘Open’, you will set off a special Incense that will spawn Roaming Form Gimmighoul. But be quick! This effect will only last for 30 minutes.
