Pokemon GO May 2024 Community Day & previous headliners list
Trainers will be able to catch the adorable Bounsweet during the May 2024 Community Day event in Pokemon GO, so here's everything you need to know.
Pokemon GO's May 2024 Community Day event features the popular Grass-type Bounsweet, so you'll need to know the schedule, dates, and bonuses to keep track of what's happening.
Community Days are the best events in Pokemon GO, giving you a chance to catch a specific Pokemon with boosted Shiny rates and a featured attack for its final evolution. Here's everything that's happening during May's event, as well as a list of all the previous headliners.
May 2024 Community Day date & time
The Bounsweet Community Day event will take place on Sunday, May 19, 2024, from 2PM to 5PM local time.
During that three-hour window, Bounsweet will appear more frequently in the wild and have a higher chance of being Shiny! This is the perfect time to add a Shiny version of this fabulous Pokemon to your collection.
I'm a big fan of the Shiny versions of Bounsweet, Steenee, and Tsareena, as I think the pastel purple hues look a lot nicer than their non-Shiny variations - which isn't something I say often!
I also appreciate that the colour scheme is carried through each evolution, rather than deviating completely like some Pokemon do (yes, I'm looking at you, green Dragonite).
May 2024 Community Day featured attack
If you evolve a Steenee between 2PM and 10PM, you'll get a Tsareena that knows the attack High Jump Kick. This is a powerful Fighting-type Charged Move that boasts a massive 110 power in Trainer Battles.
However, this huge damage potential does come with a chance to "greatly decrease the user’s Defense" every time it's used, making it a fairly risky Charged Move to bust out.
This is the first Fighting-type attack that Tsareena can learn, offering coverage against Normal, Dark, and Steel-type opponents, so it'll be interesting to see how this affects its performance in the GO Battle League!
May 2024 Community Day bonuses
The following bonuses will be available from 2PM to 5PM:
- 2x Candy for catching Pokemon
- 2× chance for Trainers level 31 and up to receive Candy XL from catching Pokemon
- 1/4 Egg Hatch Distance for Eggs placed into Incubators during the event
- Lure Modules and Incense activated during the event will last for three hours
- Surprise encounters when taking snapshots of Pokemon
- PokeStop Showcases featuring Bounsweet and its evolutions
The following bonuses will be available from 2PM to 10PM:
- One additional Special Trade can be made
- Trades cost 50% less Stardust
There will also be event-exclusive Field Research tasks and a paid-for Special Research quest available to complete during the event for extra rewards.
Special Raid Battles
Once the Community Day ends at 5PM, Trainers will then be able to battle Steenee in 4-Star Raid Battles until 10PM. If the Raid Boss is successfully defeated, Bounsweet will spawn around the Gym for 30 minutes.
This is a great opportunity to get some extra Bounsweet Candy if you didn't collect as much as you wanted during the main event. Just remember that Shiny odds for Bounsweet will go back to normal after 5PM.

If you're wondering why there are no Community Days listed for the December months, that's because every December features the return of the previous year's headliners (and sometimes the prior year's too!).
While this is a great time to catch up on any headliners you've missed throughout the year, it does mean there's nothing 'new' to encounter in terms of Shinies or featured attacks.
That's everything you need to know about the Community Day schedule for 2024 and beyond! Visit our Pokemon GO homepage for more guides like the Spotlight Hour schedule and the current Raid Bosses.
