There are loads of Grass-type creatures to catch in Pokemon GO, from classics like Venusaur to recent additions like Meowscarada, but only the best ones will help you rise to the top.

Whether you're up against a Ground, Rock, or Water-type Raid Boss, you'll be able to Petal Dance around them all with these Grass-type attackers, which have been chosen based on their stats, movesets, and my own experience using them in the game.

What is the best Grass-type Pokemon?

The best Grass-type attacker to use for Raids is Kartana with the moves Razor Leaf and Leaf Blade.

Of all the Ultra Beasts that have made their debut in Pokemon GO, Kartana has arguably made the biggest impact. With a monstrous Attack stat and a great STAB moveset, it's perfect for attacking Raid Bosses that are vulnerable to Grass-type damage.

The main issue with Kartana is that it doesn't appear in the game very often, and it's also exclusive to the Northern Hemisphere (outside of a few limited events). If you can't catch a Kartana, other more accessible options are Chesnaught and Roserade.

The top Grass-types in Pokemon GO listed

Here are the best Grass-type attackers you can use in Pokemon GO as well as their optimal movesets:

Pokemon Moveset Sprite
Kartana Razor Leaf & Leaf Blade Kartana
Zarude Vine Whip & Power Whip Zarude
Tapu Bulu Bullet Seed & Grass Knot Tapu Bulu
Shaymin (Sky Forme) Magical Leaf & Grass Knot Shaymin
Chesnaught Vine Whip & Frenzy Plant Chesnaught
Venusaur Vine Whip & Frenzy Plant Venusaur
Roserade Magical Leaf & Grass Knot Roserade
Meowscarada Leafage & Grass Knot Meowscarada
Tsareena Magical Leaf & Grass Knot Tsareena

I've not included Mega Evolutions in the table above as they can be quite difficult to get hold of - and even when you do Mega-Evolve a Pokemon, it only stays in that form for eight hours before requiring a lengthy cooldown period that leaves them unusable.

However, if you do have the time and resources to access Mega Evolutions, you should be looking towards Mega Venasaur and Mega Sceptile. The former should run Vine Whip and Frenzy Plant, while the latter should run Bullet Seed and Frenzy Plant.

While the Pokemon listed above were chosen specifically to be Raid attackers, they can also be used when taking on Team GO Rocket Grunts that use Ground, Rock, or Water-type Pokemon in their teams.

If you're looking to take part in the GO Battle League instead of Raid Battles, it's a little harder to recommend Pokemon of specific types. Instead, check out my Great League, Ultra League, and Master League best teams.
