Overwatch 2 is one of the most popular hero shooters around, but do you need a PlayStation Plus (PS+) or Xbox Live subscription to play the game? Not only will we go over this, but if you require anything else to play the game on PC. While the game is developed by Blizzard, it is not unusual for them to require some kind of subscription to play.

Overwatch 2 is nearly a year old, and is the follow-up to the game of the year winning Overwatch. The second iteration of the game brought with it some new heroes, and other changes too, with PvE content even being added since release.

Let’s dive into whether or not a PS+ or Xbox Live subscription is needed to play.

Overwatch 2 special ability

Overwatch 2 is a game that is always online, however, it is also free to play, which means you won’t require a PS+ subscription to play.

As long as you have a decent internet connection, you can jump right into the world of Overwatch 2, find matches, and hopefully get some wins without needing anything else.

Do you need Xbox Live to play Overwatch 2?

The same as with PlayStation, Xbox Live is not required to play Overwatch 2 because it is free-to-play. So all you need is a decent internet connection, and some decent snacks to be safe, and you can jump right in with your favourite hero and your pals.

Do you need to pay for online services on PC?

Normally PC is where online games get the edge over consoles because PC games are usually free to take online. Overwatch 2 is no different, but that’s because you don’t need to pay for a subscription service regardless of where you play the game.
