Map reworks are coming to Overwatch 2 for Colosseo, Dorado & more

Overwatch 2 has plenty of maps to play on, but not all of them are created equally. These five maps are set to see a rework soon, so here's what you need to know.

Most of the maps in Overwatch 2 are pretty bulletproof, but there are a select few that could certainly use some reworks. It seems like Blizzard agrees, as it’s announced that several maps in the game are set to receive a rework treatment - starting with Colosseo.

Which maps are getting reworked in Overwatch 2?

In a blog post on the official Overwatch 2 site, Blizzard mentions that it’s currently looking at making some "significant updates" to Colosseo, Dorado, Circuit Royale, Havana, and Numbani.

Of this mix, Dorado and Numbani are both carryovers from the original Overwatch, while the other three were added later with the launch of Overwatch 2. As more heroes have been added to the game, it’s become increasingly clear that these maps are no longer as fit for purpose as they once were.

As for what these changes will look like, we’re currently none the wiser. I’d have thought that Blizzard would particularly be looking at things like map choke points. For example, Colosseo can often get quite busy as the objective is about to exit to Colosseum, resulting in a frustrating gameplay experience for all.

Don't expect to see the reworked maps for a few months

Colosseo in Overwatch 2

As for when we’ll see these reworks come to fruition, we only know about Colosseo right now - Blizzard promises that those changes will be seen in Season 11. If we estimate when that might be, it’s looking at around June 2024, based on the length of previous seasons.

It’s not currently clear when we’ll see changes to the other maps mentioned, but it will likely be in the second half of 2024, if not the start of 2025. Blizzard tends to eke out updates for Overwatch 2 over the course of several seasons - if I hear any concrete details, I’ll be sure to update this guide.
