As we approach the Chinese New Year, details on the Overwatch 2 Lunar New Year 2023 Event have surfaced. Every year, Overwatch, and now Overwatch 2, celebrates the Spring Festival with a Lunar New Year limited-time event. So, get ready to welcome in the Year of the Rabbit in Overwatch 2 Lunar New Year 2023.
Overwatch 2 Lunar New Year 2023: Start And End Date
The Overwatch 2 Lunar New Year 2023 celebration officially kicks off on January 17, 2023. That'll mean roughly a two-week break between Overwatch 2 Winter Wonderland 2022 and the Chinese New Year Event.
On February 6, the Year of the Rabbit festivities will come to a close.
Overwatch 2 Lunar New Year 2023: Year Of The Rabbit Skins
We're still a ways away from the Lunar New Year 2023 Event start date, so naturally, Blizzard is hush-hush about much of what's included. However, the Overwatch 2 Season 2 trailer offers a brief showing of a Year of the Rabbit-themed Skin for Mei.
Beside Mei in the trailer is Legendary Kkachi Echo. This is one of the few Skins in Overwatch 2 that players can earn for free by partaking in event festivities and completing limited-time challenges.
If 2022 is anything to go off of, we can probably expect at least two to three more brand-new Year of the Rabbit Overwatch 2 Skins. And, of course, look out for Lunar New Year favourites from years past in the Store!

Overwatch 2 Lunar New Year 2023: Returning Limited-Time Modes
Historically, Lunar New Year in Overwatch presents a robust offering of limited-time playlists for players to hop into. With that, Lunar New Year 2023 will likely see the return of Bounty Hunter, Capture the Flag, and Capture the Flag Blitz. While nothing is confirmed yet, there's also a chance Blizzard cooks up some new ways to play Overwatch 2 for this special event.
Overwatch 2 Lunar New Year 2023: Festive Map Changes
Some of Overwatch 2's maps will be adorned with Chinese decorations to commend the annual Lunar New Year Festival. Prepare to battle on Lunar New Year versions of maps, like Lijiang Tower, throughout the Year of the Rabbit Event.
