NetherRealm and WB Games have previously been rather tight-lipped surrounding details about the requested crossplay feature in Mortal Kombat 1, but months after launch, we've finally got a release date.

Dubbed 'Krossplay' (would you expect anything less, really?), the feature is becoming more and more of an industry standard by the day. It's a great little quality-of-life addition, particularly if you're indecisive like me and like to hop from your computer to your sofa. So here's when you can expect it and what platforms it'll be on.

According to a press release, Mortal Kombat's crossplay feature will arrive on February 28, 2024, for gamers on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Previously, on the official FAQ page, WB Games did confirm Krossplay would be in Mortal Kombat 1, where it mentioned it would be coming after launch - which we now know to be true. This fact was removed from the FAQ page after its initial publishing, with X (formerly Twitter) user Wario64 screenshotting the previous draft of the Q&A.

As you can likely already gauge, it currently seems like Mortal Kombat's Krossplay feature won't be available on Nintendo Switch. Sadly, I'd be incredibly surprised if the feature does come to the platform later down the line as well.

This is because while Mortal Kombat 11 also previously supported the feature, it was only accessible on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One consoles, with Nintendo Switch players not being invited to the party.

Of course, nothing is set in stone, though, and if any additional information is revealed about this in the future, I'll be sure to update this page with all of the most recent details.

While Krossplay has yet to arrive, Mortal Kombat 1 does already have cross-progression support if you've linked your platform-specific accounts to your Warner Bros Games account.

So if you have the game on PC and Steam, for example, and want to use your progress interchangeably, all you need to do is the following:

  • Head over to the website for WB Games and login
  • Once you've done that, you'll want to make sure you're on your profile page and look for 'Connections'
  • You'll then simply want to make sure that you've connected all of the relevant accounts that you own Mortal Kombat 1 on, and you'll then have cross-progression enabled

It's a pretty handy little feature, and with Krossplay coming in February, it means you can dive in with friends on different platforms (unless you're on a Switch, of course) while playing on your console of choice that day.

You'll also be able to use all of those cool cosmetics that you've unlocked to show off your style to your buddies!
