How to get shells in LEGO Fortnite
Shells are an important material in LEGO Fortnite as they're required to craft several items, so here's a guide to finding them in the game and what you can make with them.

Shells are one of the most valuable materials in LEGO Fortnite, used for crafting items like the health charm and defensive equipment. It's also used for upgrading the crafting bench.
Unlike wood and granite, however, shells aren’t scattered throughout the LEGO Fortnite world, which is why you may have a hard time finding them. With that said, here’s a guide to help you find shells in LEGO Fortnite.
Where to find shells in LEGO Fortnite
Shells are a crafting ingredient that can be obtained by defeating Rollers in LEGO Fortnite. Rollers are one of the enemy creatures in the game that only spawns in Grassland areas. It’s worth noting that these critters are hard to spot in the first place as they camouflage themselves by taking the shape of a rock.
Thankfully, you can distinguish Rollers from actual rocks by looking out for a green plant on their back. Once you approach them, they defend themselves by shooting rocks or rolling at you, which ultimately deal significant damage.
It's best to keep your weapon out in your hands when approaching a Roller in LEGO Fortnite. We recommend using a sword or pickaxe to fight against Roller, as it roughly takes four to five hits to take it down. Although the result is different for each player, we were able to get around five shells from each roller.
How to use shells in LEGO Fortnite
So far, we have been able to use shells to craft the following items in LEGO Fortnite:
- Grain Mill: 20x Knotroot Rod, 20x Granite Slab, 3x Shell
- Gem Cutter: 20x Marble Slab, 5x Rough Amber, 5x Sand Claw, 3x Sand Shell
- Health Charm: 3x shells are required to unlock Health Charm recipe
There are likely many more items that are crafted using shells, so we advise farming them whenever you can and storing them in a chest for future use.
