To the dismay of Plunder fanatics everywhere, the popular mode was nowhere to be found when Warzone 2 first launched in November of 2022. Thankfully, that's no longer the case as of Season 03's latest in-season update for Warzone 2.

Whether you played the original Plunder or not, this primer will get you all caught up with Warzone 2's Plunder 2.0.

How do you play Plunder?

By popular demand, Plunder makes its debut beginning April 26, 2023. To start, Plunder is available exclusively for Quads, but don't be surprised if Plunder expands to Solos, Duos, and Trios later down the line. To play Plunder, launch the game and look for the Plunder playlist.

If you aren't familiar with how Plunder works, the main thing to know is that it's all about the Cash. To win Plunder, you must collect $2 million Cash or have the most Cash when time runs out.

There are all sorts of ways to earn Cash in Plunder. Eliminating enemies, completing contracts, participating in events, and clearing Warzone 2 Strongholds and Warzone 2 Black Sites are great ways to rack up Cash.

While you're free to hold the Cash you collect, it's not always the smartest strategy. Traversing Al Mazrah with lots of Cash on you will make you a massive target, and you risk losing it all to poachers. Instead, you can deposit your Cash at Cash Deposit Helipads or by using a Cash Deposit Balloon.

If you think you have some Cash to spare and want to increase your chances of winning Plunder, you can also use your Cash at Buy Stations to purchase Cash Deposit Balloons, Killstreaks, weapons, and new Plunder-exclusive items.

Perhaps the best part about Plunder is that there is no limit to the number of times you can respawn. You can only die a time or two in Battle Royale before your match is over.  But in Plunder, you come back to life every time you die!

Plunder 2.0 changes

Plunder in Warzone 2 isn't the same Plunder you remember from the original Warzone. This implementation of Plunder features a few changes.

For starters, the new and improved Plunder includes an in-match event system. During matches of Plunder 2.0, different events can occur that'll shake things up. Below is a list of all the Plunder events:

  • Blood Money: Earn double Cash when eliminating and looting Operators.
  • Cannon Fodder: [[REDACTED]]
  • Choke Hold: Spawns a circle of gas when a match stalemates and runs for too long.
  • Contractor: All contracts award double Cash.
  • Heat: Black Sites and Strongholds award five times their normal rewards.
  • Money Siphon: ATMs offer unlimited Cash withdrawals for a brief few moments.

Furthermore, Buy Stations in Plunder 2.0 have some brand-new offerings, such as:

  • Discount Card: Receive 10% cashback on all purchases.
  • Life Insurance: Keep 50% of the Cash on your person if you get eliminated.
  • Angel Investor: Receive a Top Secret Contract that offers a higher payout and a free UAV.

Plunder challenges and rewards

To incentivize players to check out Plunder, Plunder 2.0 features nine exclusive rewards you can earn for completing challenges.

For the most part, these challenges consist of tasks you will complete naturally by just playing Plunder, like winning Plunder matches and eliminating foes. The rewards up for grabs include a Vehicle Camo, Calling Cards, Decals, and more!
