Is a Nintendo Switch worth buying in 2024?

The Nintendo Switch is one of the most successful consoles of all time, and a massive return to form for Nintendo after the failure of the Wii U.
Since it launched in 2017, the Switch has seen some of best-selling games of the current generation, along with the return of some IPs that some players expected to lay dormant forever. But should you buy one in the current year?
Is a Nintendo Switch worth buying in 2024?
It's still absolutely worth it - yes! The Nintendo Switch is one of the best consoles of the current generation, and offers a tonne of exclusive games you won't be able to play elsewhere (legally).
The Switch is hybrid console, meaning it can be used docked while connected to a TV for the big screen experience, or undocked, allowing you to take it on the go.
It also has the advantage of being the go-to console for parties, largely due to the ease of using the Joy-Con controllers and connecting new ones. Plus, the amount of party games made for the console. So if you have friends around a lot, I would take this into consideration.
It's worth noting that the long-rumoured Switch 2 is apparently around the corner, with most in the industry expecting a 2025 release. This does mean if you purchase a Switch today, it could be less than a year until its next edition comes out.
However, Nintendo can be annoying with its technology releases as we've seen in the past, so there's a chance that Switch games won't even be playable on the Switch 2.
We also don't know what the launch line-up for the next console is even set to look like, as there's still no official confirmation of when it will launch or that it exists.
