How to Wizard Duel in Hogwarts Legacy
You'll first get a small tutorial to wizard duelling in your first Defence Against the Dark Arts lesson with Professor Hecat, against Slytherin student, Sebastian Sallow.
To start properly wizard duelling practice at the duelling club in Hogwarts Legacy, you can follow the Crossed Wands: Round 1 quest, given to you by Sebastian after the lesson ends. It will take you to Lucan Brattleby, the Gryffindor student who coordinates duels for the Crossed Wands duelling club.
Lucan fills you in on the basics of wizard duelling in Crossed Wands, including that the last spellcaster standing wins and that the winner even gets a prize.
In this tutorial quest, you'll be paired with Sebastian in a 2 vs 2 duel as the Initiate Round. However, you can take on following duels either alone or with a partner. Whichever you prefer.
This first duel will take you through the basics, like how to break through an opponent's shield and how to lock on targets. Win, and the quest will be complete.
The next mission in the club, Crossed Wands: Round 2 will become available shortly after you're tasked with completing both rounds in the quest, Professor Hecat's Assignment 1. He should then have your next round of opponents ready for you.
Alternatively, if you want a bit more practice before the slightly harder follow-up quest, you can ask Lucan to use the training dummy to practice combinations. Giving you objectives like "cast Accio followed by four consecutive attacks", this is a great way to get a hang of wizard duelling controls if you're not used to fast-paced gameplay.
