Getting to skip the Nibelheim in FF7 Rebirth (which is what you play through in the demo) is a huge benefit for returning Final Fantasy players, with a sweet set of extra rewards to boot.

Being able to save yourself a couple of hours as you start the full game over ground you've already trodden is brilliant, so let's get into what you need to do.

How to skip Nibelheim in Chapter 1

To skip Nibelheim in Chapter 1 of FF7 Rebirth, you'll need to complete the Nibelheim portion of the demo, which covers the opening section of the full game. You won't need to have played the Junon section of the demo, however.

Then, to redeem your demo saved data and skip this large part of Chapter 1, you'll need to complete the following steps in the FF7 Rebirth main menu after booting the game up:

  • Select "New Game" or "Bonuses" if you've already begun a playthrough
  • Chose "Checked Saved Data"
    • If starting a new game, you'll need to select "Check"
  • The game will then detect your saved data for completing the Nibelheim section

As you start playing Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, you'll soon see a notification giving you the option to skip this part of Chapter 1 - so you won't have to play through this content a second time.

Rewards for completing the FF7 Rebirth demo

As well as getting to skip this segment of Chapter 1 in FF7 Rebirth, completing the Nibelheim demo will net you the following rewards in the full game, with their descriptions as written on the PlayStation Store game page

  • Kupo Charm: Accessory that increases the number of resource items extracted at a set rate
  • Survival set: A selection of items to aid on your adventure, including potions and ethers

These may not be as stunning as the Levithan & Ramuh Summon Materia you can get for having played Final Fantasy 7 Remake or the EPISODE INTERmission DLC, but I'd still say these bonuses and letting your demo save carryover to skip Chapter 1 is still pretty good.
