Having some issues helping Hinkel in Honkai: Star Rail? Honkai: Star Rail has a mostly straightforward tutorial, apart from one notable speed bump. Hinkel is one of the researchers you need to help in the early part of the game, but your task is not a simple one. Here is what you need to know to help Hinkel.

Where is Hinkel?

During Today is Yesterday's Tomorrow, the quest that serves as the game's tutorial, you will be prompted to use the Warp function. You can learn more about how that works in our Honkai: Star Rail banners guide. Once you are done, you will be given three Light Cones by Arlan and asked to level them up. Then, you will need to go and help two researchers in the Master Control Zone.

Finding the researcher Hinkel in Honkai: Star Rail

There are two researchers you need to speak to, one at the front of the Master Control Zone, and the other at the back. Hinkel is at the front of the Master Control Zone. Speak to her to learn how you can help.

How to help Hinkel

Hinkel will begin telling you some very specific things about the machinery in front of you, and you will need to memorize the four positions she tells you about in order to correctly solve the puzzle. It can be a bit much to take it all in, so thankfully we have the answer for you here.

The solution to Hinkel's puzzle in Honkai Star Rail

You need to give her a set of directions and you will be given three options for your answer. The correct choice is Up, Right, Down, which is the third option. Choose this option and the puzzle is solved, no memory needed.
