The Halo Infinite ranks are little different to the previous entries in the series, and players have noticed since jumping into the beta that shadow dropped on November 15. Like with any multiplayer shooter, Halo has a ranked mode for players to get their competitive juices flowing and compete with the best players online. It plays a little differently to the normal PvP modes, but still has all your favourite game modes available. If you need a breakdown of the Halo Infinite ranks and its ranking system, then read on.

Halo Infinite Ranks: Ranking System Explained

To begin with, you'll be given the option to enable crossplay, allowing you to choose to enter a queue for controller lobbies, mouse and keyboard lobbies, or both. You can also queue solo or with a group of friends. Currently, the differences between ranked mode and standard matchmaking are:

  • All players start with a Battle Rifle
  • The combat sensor is disabled (a.k.a. the mini map)
  • Friendly fire is enabled
  • Grenade hit markers are disabled
  • Static item spawns are enabled

Halo Infinite Ranks: All Ranks In Order

To obtain a rank, players will first need to compete in ten placement matches, with your overall performance deciding which rank you'll be placed into. The current ranks are divided into six different groupings, with multiple levels in each. They currently stand as:

  • Bronze I-VI
  • Silver I-VI
  • Gold I-VI
  • Platinum I-VI
  • Diamond I-VI
  • Onyx

Once you have your rank, the idea is to continue the climb until reaching that elusive Onyx. Wins will award you with an opportunity to rank up, while losses will drag you back down to the lower ranks.

Halo Infinite Ranks: Are There Rewards?

There doesn't appear to be any rewards for achieving the different competitive ranks at the moment, though that could change as time goes on and the first season approaches its ending. The only way of getting rewards such as new armours, effects, and skins are through the battle pass, which has both a free and premium track for unlocks. The max battle pass level is 100, and the current theme is based on Halo Reach, allowing players to gain armours that resemble Noble team from the game's campaign. There is also the Halo Infinite Tenrai event which has its own battle pass to work through.

That's pretty much the gist of the competitive ranked mode in Halo: Infinite. The game's first season is set to carry on for a while until May 2022, so you'll have plenty of time to achieve the highest rank and to work your way through the battle pass.
