If you’ve been wondering how to beat Headmistress Hecate in the early-access version of Hades 2, then look no further, because we’ve struggled our way through the tricky gauntlet to reach her just for you.

How to beat Headmistress Hecate in Hades 2

Like most bosses in the Hades games, Headmistress Hecate has three phases that initiate after whittling down her health bar. After getting her down to the last phase, you’ll have beaten her. But, be sure to keep your distance at a mid-range, as she'll quickly attempt to run you down.

The first phase is the easiest, as she attacks pretty slowly and regularly with waves of attacks. Hecate typically attacks with green fiery waves and pulsating magic that expands and contracts to try and damage you. Additionally, she can temporarily make a clone of herself to try and double-team you.

When breaking into her second phase, Hecate will summon several Witch enemies that will cast spells at you, as well as attack you herself. Hecate becomes impervious to attacks during this sequence until you have defeated all of the Witches in the area. Then, she returns to attacking like her first phase.

During her final phase, Hecate will turn you into a sheep that cannot attack, but can dodge. You move slower in this form, and Hecate will create glyphs beneath you that have a slight delay to them before dealing damage. Use this time to dodge as best you can. It is better to get transformed earlier rather than later, as you will have fewer attacks to dodge from the enemies she spawns.

Once you return to normal, simply beat all the Witches again before turning your attention back to Hecate and taking her down.

Where to find Headmistress Hecate in Hades 2

Like Megaera and the Fury Sisters in the first Hades game, Hecate is the boss at the end of the first area of the game, Erebus. While she may be your ally, she’s not going to let you progress until you’ve proven yourself to her.

After fighting through hordes of enemies, you’ll finally be challenged by Hecate, who is impressed you made it so far so quickly.
