While his path to maturity and growth in the reboot games has been a significant aspect to his character, we all miss the tenacity and rage of Young Kratos from the original God of War games.

Luckily, you can bring back some of that with the new skin in the Valhalla DLC for Ragnarok.

How to unlock Young Kratos

Put simply, you need to complete the Valhalla mode to unlock the younger Kratos look.

While it is a rogue-lite mode meaning it essentially loops forever, there is a story that permeates the mode. You need to run the gauntlet and defeat Tyr four times to complete the story of Valhalla, helping Kratos accept himself and his place in the world.

Once this is done, you will return to the shore. Speak with Freya and the Valkyries to cap off the story, and you will receive a notice telling you that you have mastered Valhalla but can continue to explore Valhalla and complete challenges.

It will also tell you that you have unlocked the Legacy Rage Path, which allows you to use the Blade of Olympus, and a special new look for Kratos.

Once you have completed the Valhalla story, you can head over to the Appearance Pedestal.

Here you should see a new prompt in the bottom right corner, allowing you to press R3 to change between classic and default appearances. Press R3 to change to Young Kratos, and press it again to change back.

All your unlocked armour pieces can be equipped with Young Kratos, although unlocking the skin also unlocks a set of Spartan armour pieces that complete the look.

What's more, these things are also unlocked for the main game, but only in New Game Plus. So long as you have finished the main story, you can start over using the classic skin, the new Spartan armour, and the Blade of Olympus.
