God of War Ragnarok has a number of materials for making upgrades to your gear, with Rawhide being one of the most important. Here is everything you need to know to farm some Rawhide.

Where can you get Rawhide?

Rawhide comes from a variety of sources, particularly in early areas like Sfartelfheim. There are a number of ways to acquire some, but not many that you can farm. Like many crafting resources, oftentimes your best bet is to seek out chests around the map.

The game is filled with hidden areas, side paths, and deviations for you to follow. Very often you will find you have multiple paths to follow, one being the path forward through the story, others taking you in different directions. Those paths often lead to chests and rewards, and those can be a great source of resources like rawhide.

Ragnarok is a much more open experience than the previous game, there are times when the game gives you wide-open optional areas to explore. Those places are often a great source of upgrade materials and valuables you can sell for hacksilver.

Whenever you find yourself in one of these areas, be sure to search them thoroughly for resources. In fact, searching thoroughly throughout the game is a good policy to keep yourself well stocked on materials like rawhide.

Specific sources of Rawhide

If you are looking for more specific ways of gathering rawhide, there are some ways to do that, and while these methods can't really be farmed repeatedly, they are guaranteed to get you some rawhide. First and foremost, we need to head to Svartelfheim, as a lot of your travels around this realm will be done by boat - and there are plenty of resources that can be gathered on the water.

As you sail around, you will notice patches of water with a shimmering, glittery effect. Slow down as you sail through those areas to allow Atreus to pick out useful items from the water. Oftentimes he will find some rawhide, making this a great method for stocking up.

There are two large bodies of water you can explore, both north and south of Nidavellir, the main Dwarven city in the region. Sail around both regions to find many of these locations.

Another source, albeit a rare one, is killing Ormr. These are the lizards that bury underground when you get close and need to be taken out from a distance and out of their line of sight. Defeating these enemies is a small puzzle in and of itself, but oftentimes you will receive some rawhide for taking them down.

Finally, later in the game, you can just straight up purchase rawhide from Brok or Sindri for 500 Hacksilver. There aren't many ways to consistently farm the material, but there are enough sources that you shouldn't have too much trouble acquiring plenty of it.
