Split-screen is a great feature, especially if you have siblings or a pal around so you can both jump onto the game. Luckily, it's available in Fortnite, so here's everything you need to know about how to start playing split-screen and couch co-op.
How to play split-screen in Fortnite
Playing split-screen in Fortnite is a relatively recent addition, so we've outlined below what you need to do to set it up:
- Once you've loaded up Fortnite, make sure you're on the main lobby menu
- Connect a second controller to your console if it's not already linked
- There should be a command that says 'Log In (Hold)' at the bottom of the screen
- The second player needs to enter this command on their controller
- After a brief loading screen, the second player should now be in the lobby with you
Split-screen is now activated and you'll be able to dive into a match together! It's worth pointing out that this feature doesn't always work perfectly, so expect bugs or gameplay lag every now and then.
Is there a couch co-op in Fortnite?
Couch co-op wasn’t originally available in Fortnite, but it has since been added due to demand from fans. This means that you can sit side-by-side with a pal and try to win the elusive Victory Umbrella together.
What Fortnite modes can you use split-screen in?
Split-screen can be used in Duos, Trios, and Squads in Battle Royale, Zero Build, or Ranked mode. It's not available in Solos because it would allow players to cheat and team up in the mode.
Unfortunately, this feature isn't supported in Fortnite Creative, so you'll have to stick to the classic Battle Royale mode for now.
