If you want to get your hands on the new Solid Snake skin in Fortnite, you'll need to know how to hide in a Cardboard Box. This is a Metal Gear crossover, after all - did you expect anything less?
After weeks of waiting, Solid Snake and all of his matching cosmetics have finally arrived in the Chapter 5: Season 1 Battle Pass. To mark the occasion, two Mythic items have been added to the game's loot pool: the EMP Stealth Camo and the Cardboard Box.
Where to find a Cardboard Box in Fortnite
You can find Cardboard Boxes as floor loot or by searching inside Chests, but keep in mind that they are Mythical items so the chances of stumbling across one are quite slim. I struggled to find one this way.
For a guaranteed way to get yourself a Cardboard Box, head to the little island north of Lavish Lair to find the Solid Snake NPC who will sell you one for 100 Gold Bars. I've marked his location on the map below.
I would recommend doing this at the beginning of a match, as Snake is most likely going to be a popular NPC to speak to! Both times I went to visit him I got attacked by other players, so be careful out there.
How to hide in a Cardboard Box for 10 seconds
Once you've got a Cardboard Box in your inventory, simply aim and throw it down on the ground like you would a grenade. Then approach it and press the interact button to hop inside!
You can still walk around when you're inside a Cardboard Box, but you'll be slower than usual and - let's face it - pretty easy pickings for enemy players. There's really no benefit of having a Cardboard Box, as even NPCs will fire at you when you're hiding inside one.
The Solid Snake Quest you'll need to complete asks you to 'hide in a Cardboard Box for 10 seconds' which means you should probably go somewhere quiet, inside a building, so other players don't spot you and take you out before you finish it!
That's everything you need to know about the Cardboard Box! Visit our Fortnite homepage for more guides like the best landing spots and how to get free skins.
