There are a few different ways to get rid of players in FM24 and we will outline them all below, as well as a few options for what you can do if they’re refusing to leave.

The main issues you’re going to run into when selling players are if they don’t want to leave, no club really wants them, or if their social standing is so high within the club that selling them could cause issues behind the scenes.

Selling your captain, or a player who is incredibly influential, is likely to always cause problems, so you’re best off keeping them around until their influence wanes or their contract expires.

Loan them out first

One option, if you can’t shift the player straight away, is to offer them on loan first and try to get any club that takes the player to have an obligation to buy.

This way, you free up a spot in your squad, shift some wages and hopefully pop the player in the shop window, so someone will want to buy them.

Transfer list the player

You can also list the player on the transfer market, set their price and hope someone comes in to buy the player. Sadly, this is the least likely way to sell a player but if you list them as significantly undervalued the player will be shifted.

The only issue with this, you may upset the board for not getting enough money from the transfer, but either way - if you wanna shift a player, you will need to transfer list them.

Offer them around via TransferRoom

This option is very similar to just transfer listing the player, but you can choose targets to offer the player and what price you want to sell them for. If you can see the player is wanted by a certain club, this is a good way of kicking off the transfer and showing you’re interested in selling.

Hire an intermediary to sell the player

The newest option in FM24 to help sell players is to hire an intermediary to sell the player for you. They will take a percentage for selling the player, but it means you won’t have to worry too much about the admin of the sale, and you should shift them as long as there is interest.

If you do try and sell a player and they get upset, then your only option is to talk your way around it. Usually, you can find a way out of it, but it may mean keeping them in the club. If the player is influential, you could end up with a revolt on your hands so you’re best keeping them around.
