How to find & beat the Quetzalcoatl in FF7 Rebirth to craft Windmill Gear
Here is everything you need to know about getting the Quetzalcoatl location in FF7 Rebirth so you can craft the Windmill Gear and repair the windmill.
Getting the location of the Quetzalcoatl in FF7 Rebirth is easily the most difficult part of crafting the Windmill Gear during the "Where the Wind Blows" quest.
Although the odd job mission seems simple enough, with you only needing a Quetzalcoatl Talon, getting the part in the game is easier said than done.
How to find Quetzalcoatl Talon in FF7 Rebirth
The only way to locate the Quetzalcoatl and obtain its talon in FF7 Rebirth is by finding four World Intel lifesprings in the Grasslands.
There are six Lifespring locations in the Grasslands area altogether, which you identify with the symbol as shown in the map below; as you get closer, a red owl appears and will lead you the best of the way to each Lifespring.
After you scan the fourth Lifespring, Chadley will tell you he's identified the location of the Quetzalcoatl's nest and will add it to your map - in rocky terrain south of Kalm.
Head to the site and hold the Triangle button to start the battle with the Quetzalcoatl, one of the most difficult fights you'll have this early in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth so far.
How to beat the Quetzalcoatl
To beat the Level 22 Quetzalcoatl, you'll need to be at least Level 20 to get through its 20,223 HP on Normal Difficulty - regularly using Blizzard to exploit its weakness to Ice-type attacks and Stagger it.
However, I tested this boss battle on Easy difficulty with my party at around Level 17 and was able to get through it just fine by using plenty of varied Potions and the Cure Spell; I'd also recommend using the Shiva summon to deliver extra Ice damage as well.
After a hard battle, the Quetzalcoatl Talon will be added to your FF7 Rebirth inventory - allowing you to craft the Windmill Gear if you've gathered the other components.
