FF16 DLC has been on the minds of many players, so here is the answer on if there are any Final Fantasy 16 DLC plans with new info from the game's team.
The topic of Final Fantasy 16 DLC plans has been in the thoughts of various players of the game in recent weeks as more finish the lengthy campaign. After all, the JRPG has been a hit with Final Fantasy fans new and old.
Both before and after the June 22 launch, we've heard from the team at Square Enix on whether there will ever actually be any FF16 DLC. So, with the help of words from those leading Square Enix Creative Business Unit III, let's get into answering if Final Fantasy 16 will have any DLC.
Final Fantasy 16 DLC plans: Will FF16 have DLC?
As revealed by Square Enix Creative Business Unit III, there is currently no announced Final Fantasy 16 DLC. This answer was specifically given by the game's producer, Naoki Yoshida (known as Yoshi-P), in an interview with Game Informer back in May 2023.
Along with a statement by director Hiroshi Takia saying that Creative Business Unit III has no plans for FF16 DLC, Yoshida clarified further saying that their priority was merely to get the game into player's hands, also knowing the experience is equal to what they've paid for - feeling complete without the need for extra content.
"It’s a one-off game", says Yoshida. "We’re asking players to pay the full price for this experience, and so we want an experience that’s going to equal the amount of money that players are going to be paying and we want them to have satisfaction equal to what they paid or even more than that.
Speaking before the 22 June 2023 launch of the game, Yoshida also stated that he had "no idea if people are going to fall in love with Valisthea and fall in love with Clive’s story and want to see more of the world and more of its characters".
Even though the team "always want to consider DLC or spinoffs or those types of things" to learn more about the game and its world, Creative Business Unit III wanted to see if the players actually wanted to see more of Clive and Valisthea first.

Could there ever be Final Fantasy 16 DLC?
Of course, after launch, we've got the impression Final Fantasy 16 has achieved just that - with the game earning a player base big enough that it even broke an all-time PS5 sales record.
With that, the positive feedback from so many players has been heard by Yoshida and the team enough that they are now considering Final Fantasy 16 DLC plans for the future.
This was revealed in an early July 2023 interview with GameBraves featuring Yoshia and localisation director Koji Fox. For the last question of the thirteen-minute interview, the two were asked if there are any plans for DLC.
Thankfully, Yoshida provided a bit more hope this time around, following FF16's positive reception:
"As you know, going into FFXVI, the one thing we wanted to create a full complete story - something that you can enjoy from beginning to end 100% without any DLC and I think we were able to do that.
But now, we understand we're getting feedback from players that have played the game and lot of players want to see more and we know that and understand that.
For us, we're taking that and then thinking about our options moving forward. So hopefully in the near future, we can have something that we can give to you all."
All in all, this officially puts the potential for Final Fantasy 16 DLC plans on the table. Although, the wait for any potential FF16 DLC will be a long one, since the Square Enix Creative Business Unit III will be effectively starting from scratch.
