More players are searching for how to evolve Tyrogue into Hitmontop since spotting the Scuffle Pokemon in Scarlet & Violet's Indigo Disk DLC.

As Tyrogue actually has three evolution options, the other two being Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee, it's easy to wonder what makes the difference. So, let's dive into the evolution method to get you a Hitmontop in the game

How to evolve Tyrogue in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

There are two conditions to evolve your Tyrogue into a Hitmontop in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet: reaching Level 20 and having the same Attack and Defense stats.

If your Tyrogue levels up past this point with uneven stats, you'll get a different evolution depending on which is higher. Having more Attack than Defense will get you a Hitmonlee. Meanwhile, a Tyrogue levelling up with a higher Defense than Attack will evolve into a Hitmonchan.

How to change Tyrogue's stats for evolution

To be sure you get the Tyrogue evolution you're after, you can use stat-boosting items like Vitamins; Protein for Attack and Iron for Defense; or Feathers - specifically, Muscle Feathers for Attack or Resist Feathers for Defense.

You can find Feathers as you run around The Indigo Disk map, and you can buy Vitamins directly from Chansey Supplies shops or spend BP at the DLC's School Store. We'd recommend the former than the latter though since you'll need BP to get all of the Indigo Disk's starter Pokemon

Once you've boosted Tyrogue's stats enough, check its summary page to be sure both the Attack and Defense stats are even. After you level it up via battling, using a Rare Candy, or using Exp. Candies, you'll have Hitmontop to add to your Pokedex!
