Escape From Tarkov thermite is one of the best barter and hideout items to get your hands on, but it can be quite hard if you don't know where to look. While it is not one of the most valuable items in Escape From Tarkov, it does have a lot of uses and holds a great single slot value too. So, to find out how to get your hands on some Escape From Tarkov thermite, or want to know how to use it, make sure to carry on reading.
Where To Find Escape From Tarkov Thermite
There are a couple of different ways you can go about finding some Escape From Tarkov thermite, as you can either loot general spots, or focus on specific areas with higher spawn rates.
If you're wanting to just see the general areas where Escape From Tarkov thermite can spawn, check out the list below:
- Dead scavs
- Technical supply crates
- Caches
However, if you want a much better chance at finding Escape From Tarkov thermite as quickly as possible, you're going to want to focus on the following three maps, in a few specific spots:
- Interchange
- Lighthouse
- Customs
Interchange Thermite Spawns
If you're on the hunt for some Escape From Tarkov thermite, then Interchange is probably going to be your best bet, as it has the highest amount of specific spawn areas.
The best place to begin your search is on the shelves at the back of Goshan and OLI, which you might be familiar with if you've read our Escape From Tarkov Interchange map guide, or if you're wondering how to find an Escape From Tarkov awl.
The general shelves behind the two shops are a great spot to check as well, as they are very long and a can of thermite has the chance to spawn at any point across them.
Additionally, in the bottom right corner of OLI (if you're entering through the front of the mall) also has a high spawn rate, around the detached shelving and also the green boxed shelves at the wall too.
Finally, the last spot you're going to want to check out if you're looking for some Escape From Tarkov thermite is in the Brutal store, specifically on the shelves at the back. This can be a higher traffic area than OLI and Goshan though, so be prepared for some other PMCs roaming about.
Lighthouse Thermite Spawns
The two Lighthouse thermite spawns are both on the main road, so it at least makes it a fairly straightforward route. The place you're going to want to start is at the construction site right in the middle of the map, and it will spawn as loose loot around here.
Once you've checked there though, you'll want to head towards the lighthouse on the main road, but turn left at the split instead of right to the peninsula. This will take you towards the Southern Road extract - which you might have up if you spawned on the northern side of the map. On the yellow trucks around here are potential thermite spawns, so have a close look at everything to see if there are any to pick up.
Customs Thermite Spawns
Customs is the final map that you're going to be looking at a dedicated thermite spawn for, and it can be found on the shelves in the warehouses. If you're unfamiliar with the Escape From Tarkov Customs map, these are the large buildings on the opposite side of the map to the river, and are near the Old Gas Station and ZB-012/11 extracts.
Escape From Tarkov Thermite Uses
Thankfully there are no quests that require you to find Escape From Tarkov thermite, so your progression won't be halted that way, but it is one of the Escape From Tarkov hideout items and also has a few barters too.
First and foremost though, thermite is a great item to loot to just sell, as it is only single slot and will sell to the Escape From Tarkov Traders for 32,760₽ and can reach upwards of 60,000₽ on the Escape From Tarkov flea market too. If you manage to pick up a couple of cans on a scav run for example you could be in for some serious money, even without a backpack.
In terms of hideout upgrades though, you will need to obtain two to get to Workbench level three, but this is only doable after some serious progression into a wipe, so as long as you save two along the way you'll be fine.
Barters are where thermite really has a value though, as there are some really great items that you can trade it for across the traders. At Mechanic LL1, two thermite and two gunpowder eagle will get you the ammunition case, which can be really great for cleaning out your stash and storing ammo to use later.
At Prapor LL4, you can trade four thermite and four TP-200 bricks for a Zabralo armour, which is both class six and needed for a Ragman quest later on. Finally, at Skier LL4, four M-parts and two thermite will trade for one DVL-10 (Saboteur variant), which is the very deadly silenced variant of one of the best snipers in the game.
Finally, there are a couple of crafts that you can use thermite for on the Workbench, which give you access to some of the best Escape From Tarkov ammo in the game:
Workbench Level | Items Required | Outcome |
Level Three |
Toolset, Multitool (auxiliary) Gunpower "Eagle" x1, OFZ x2, Thermite x1 |
200x M995 5.56x45mm ammunition |
Level Three |
Toolset (auxilliary) 3x Gunpower "Eagle", 4x Gunpowder "Kite", 1x Thermite, 4x Pack of Nails |
200x 9x19mm PBP gzh ammunition |
Level Three |
Pliers Elite (auxillary) 2x Gunpowder "Hawk", 1x Gunpower "Eagle", 2x TP-200 TNT Brick, 1x Thermite |
2x OFZ |
As you can see, there are some really good items that you can craft by using some Escape From Tarkov thermite, even if it might not be the primary ingredient in any of these. The M995 craft is probably the pick of the bunch, as that is the best available 5.56x45mm ammo in the game, and it is part of the Escape From Tarkov flea market banned items too, so this is one of the only ways to obtain it.
