The Escape From Tarkov Grenadier quest from Prapor is one of the most notoriously challenging tasks to complete, and it has only got more important in patch 12.12.30. Quests in Escape From Tarkov sometimes have meta ammo and weapons locked behind them, so completing them is a must if you want to have a chance in gunfights. So, to find out all about the Escape From Tarkov Grenadier quest, including some tips on how to complete it, have a read on below.

Escape From Tarkov Grenadier quest details

In terms of what you need to do, the Escape From Tarkov Grenadier quest is one of the more straightforward tasks in the game, but actually completing it is a far harder task than you might initially think. Do note that you need to be at least level 30, and have completed the Shaking up the Teller task to start this quest.

Here is the singular objective you need to complete for the Escape From Tarkov Grenadier task:

  • Eliminate eight PMC operatives with grenades

Thankfully, as of September 2, 2022, this task has been made quite a bit easier to complete, as Battlestate Games has silently cut the number of kills needed by a third. Initially, you would need 12 PMC kills, but now you only need eight, which is a significant boost for anyone who's been struggling to complete it.

While in a standard FPS game, killing enemies with grenades might just take a couple of games, in Escape From Tarkov this is significantly harder to complete, especially since they removed the instant grenade throw as part of the inertia changes.

As a reward for completing this task, however, you will gain the following:

  • 75,000₽
  • 18,000 XP
  • An increase of 0.02 to your Prapor rep
  • Five F-1 hand grenades
  • 240 rounds of 5.45x39mm BT ammo
  • Unlocks the barter for 9x39mm BP ammo pack (8 pcs) at Prapor LL4
  • Unlocks purchase of 7.62x39mm BP ammo at Prapor LL3

And it is that last reward - the ability to purchase 7.62x39 BP at Prapor LL3 - that makes this quest so significant to complete. It is easily the meta round in the game right now, as its damage and penetration, combined with the fact it can be loaded into the RD-704/Mutant which top our Escape From Tarkov best guns list, so it is essential to unlock.

So, if you're wanting to know some tips on how to complete the Escape From Tarkov Grenadier quest, make sure to keep on reading.

Escape From Tarkov Grenadier tips

Unless you're happy to try and complete the Escape From Tarkov Grenadier quest naturally - which will likely take you a couple of weeks at least, there is really only one way to go about doing it: Factory.

As is the case with most PvP-based quests, Factory is the perfect map due to its size, and the relative lack of gear people like to bring in. As there is essentially no worthwhile loot on the map, people don't see the worth in bringing in super meta builds, so combine that with the inevitability of running into someone and it is perfect for some easy grenade kills.

You're not going to want to bring in any grenade to complete this quest, as your standard long-fuze frags are going to be far too easy for players to avoid. Instead, you're going to want to opt for impact grenades, which are chiefly the RGO and RGN hand grenades.

The great thing about these two is that they will explode upon contact with a surface, so you can throw it at the ground surrounding an enemy and they'll be dead before they even get a chance to react. One thing you need to be careful of is making sure there is enough distance between you and your intended target, as the grenade needs to be in air for just under a second in order to detonate upon impact. If this is not the case, it will bounce off the surface that it hits, and take an additional three and half seconds to explode.

The other significant challenge with the RGO and RGN hand grenades is actually getting your hands on them, as they are part of the Escape From Tarkov flea market banned items list, and aren't available for a barter until Prapor LL4. You can find them in various grenade boxes, but they are quite rare so you might want to save them up on your travels before attempting this quest.

Additionally, even when you have the barter at Prapor LL4 - which you need to be at least level 36 to reach - each grenade will cost you roughly 55-65,000₽, so you'll be set back at least 440,000₽ in a best case scenario. Ideally then, you'll want to only take one grenade in per raid to minimise the risk of losing any upon death, and just hope that you can get a few multi-kills in the process too.

In terms of action spots on Factory, the forklift area is probably your best bet, as there are potentially three PMC spawns in extremely close proximity which you can make use of. While you could argue that the office area is also a good spot, the likelihood of any fights being at a range that would detonate the grenade at impact is fairly low, so we wouldn't advise focusing here.

Finally, one important tip is that you can actually run around after taking the pin out of the grenade, which will allow you to throw it far quicker than you would be able to otherwise. This is especially handy on a map like Factory, where you are liable to run into someone at any moment, so you can be well prepared for that inevitability.

So, that's everything you need to know about the Escape From Tarkov Grenadier quest from Prapor, including a few tips on how to complete the pesky task.
