Now that Starfield is finally here, thoughts have turned to The Elder Scrolls 6 - but we'll be waiting a while to reach Tamriel (well, outside of Elder Scrolls Online).

If, like me, you've got fond memories of Skyrim (and the dozens of platforms it's come to), you'll no doubt be itching to see what Bethesda's next huge RPG will offer.

Where will TES6 be set? What will our character's origin be? Will we ever remove the arrow from our knee? Here's everything we know so far about The Elder Scrolls 6.

Is there an Elder Scrolls 6 release date?

Despite being revealed back in 2018 (half a decade ago, at the time of writing), we're still no closer to an Elder Scrolls 6 release date.

Part of that is down to Starfield, with Bethesda's huge spacefaring RPG being big on scope, and understandably taking years to work on (check out our Starfield review to find out if it was worth the wait).

According to documents as part of the ongoing FTC vs. Microsoft case, The Elder Scrolls 6 isn't expected until at least 2026. That timeline may have shifted (the document in question had Starfield pegged for an H1 2023 launch, but it arrived in Q3 instead).

Are there any Elder Scrolls 6 trailers?

Fans of game titles projected over a landscape were over the moon at E3 2018 when Bethesda revealed what has been the only trailer shown for the game so far - and debuted just after the reveal of Starfield.

36 whole seconds of reveal trailer later, and the long, cold wait for any new crumbs of footage began - and as of writing in 2023, we're still waiting for something, anything, else.

What do we know about Elder Scrolls 6's map & location?

Dragon flying in Skyrim

We've seen Elder Scrolls games set across High Rock, Hammerfell, Morrowind, Cyrodil, and Skyrim - and ESO encompasses just about all of them. All of them are regions of Tamriel, but there are some gaps to be filled in.

We've only seen the footage in the trailer above, but there are still the likes of the Black Marsh, Summerset Isles, Valenwood and Elsweyr to explore.

Given the footage we've seen so far, I'd hazard a guess that we're off to Summerset Isles if anything. We've seen it as part of an Elder Scrolls Online expansion, but it definitely looks like it'd be home to High Elves.

Elder Scrolls games have traditionally focused on specific regions, but after Starfield offered literally hundreds of planets (to varying degrees of success, I might add), could we get multiple regions arriving in the next game? Could we leave Tamriel behind altogether?

We'll update this page with more as we hear more.

What platforms could Elder Scrolls 6 be on?

I'm sorry PlayStation owners, but despite a petition, it's likely you're not getting Elder Scrolls 6 on PS5 (or PS6).

That comes via the same documents that leaked the 2026 release window, which show the game will be an Xbox and PC exclusive - again, just like Starfield (Starfield's PS5 version was reportedly cancelled after Microsoft acquired Bethesda).

It's likely it'll come to Xbox Game Pass, too, likely as a day-one release.

That's all we know about The Elder Scrolls 6 so far, but we'll keep adding to this page as we hear more. For now, why not check out our rundown of the best games on Xbox Game Pass.
