This is the build that took me through the bulk of my time as the Sorcerer in Dragon’s Dogma 2 and mostly focuses on utilising lightning spells. The Sorcerer excels at using elemental magic, and with the Lion-Lord’s Archistaff being one of the most powerful, it only seemed appropriate to gear the majority of my build around that element.
Managing the Sorcerer’s stamina is essential when mastering the Vocation, as their spells can be quite taxing. This is where the Galvanize and Quick Spell Core Skills come in handy.
Galvanize allows you to replenish your stamina faster, while Quickspell allows you to cast your spells quicker by consuming stamina. With the two working in tandem, you’ll be able to cast a huge number of spells in relatively quick succession.
Additionally, the Levitate Core Skill is a fantastic way of navigating the maps and even reaching areas that may typically be difficult. With the Detection Augment from the Trickster Vocation, you’ll have a better chance of reaching those pesky Seeker’s Tokens.
When it came to rings, I stuck with the Ring of Triumph for some overall boosts to my maximum health, stamina and carry weight, along with the Ring of Percipience that boosts Magick. Since the Sorcerer exclusively uses magic, this ring seems pretty essential.
Best Sorcerer Weapon Skills in Dragon’s Dogma 2
- High Decanter
- High Flageration
- High Levin
- High Thundermine
As I favoured using the Lion-Lord’s Staff for this build, you’re going to want to focus on lightning-oriented spells like High Thundermine and High Levin as they’ll receive a boost from this staff.
High Thundermine allows you to place, well, a mine made out of lightning so that it will continuously zap an enemy that approaches it.
High Levin hits enemies with lighting bolts from the sky and, when pressing the corresponding button continuously, you’ll be able to hit the enemy over and over until they are defeated. This is where the Galvanize Core Skill comes in handy so you can replenish your stamina even faster after unleashing this devastating attack.
Alongside these skills, I opted to use High Flageration, which is essentially a flamethrower that can torch your foes, and High Decanter to help replenish my health while also draining it from the enemy.
Best Sorcerer Weapons in Dragon’s Dogma 2
- Lion-Lord’s Archistaff
- Dragon’s Wit
While Dragon’s Wit is undoubtedly the strongest Archistaff a sorcerer can wield, it’s an endgame weapon that won’t see much use for the bulk of your playthrough. So, I opted to use the Lion-Lord’s Archistaff, which had a Lightning Affinity.
The Lion-Lord’s Archistaff can be bought in the Sacred Arbor area, the same place where you can find some of the best Bows and Magick Bows in Dragon’s Dogma 2 as well.
How good is the Sorcerer?
The Sorcerer is a master of elemental spells and by far one of the most powerful Vocations in the game. Unlocking the Vocation is also incredibly easy and can be done relatively early as part of the Vocation Frustration quest.
By catering your weapons and skills to one particular element, you can make the Sorcerer a force to be reckoned with that even the largest of enemies won’t want to try and face.
If you're not a fan of the Sorcerer, there are plenty of other builds to try in Dragon's Dogma 2, like:
