While getting the Royal Tools - including the newly added Royal Hourglass - is relatively easy, upgrading them can be challenging. Since you'll need these upgrades to access new areas in the game, we've put together a guide to help you unlock them all.
All Royal Tools in Disney Dreamlight Valley
There are currently four Royal Tools in Disney Dreamlight Valley that are upgradeable:
- Royal Shovel
- Royal Pickaxe
- Royal Watering Can
- Royal Hourglass
Most Royal Tool upgrades are unlocked by completing Friendship and Story quests. Some of the newest ones are obtained by crafting specific potions at the Timebending Table after upgrading the Royal Hourglass.
The Royal Fishing Rod currently does not have any upgrades available in the game.

How to upgrade your Royal Hourglass
The Royal Hourglass is one of the newest tools in Disney Dreamlight Valley that got added to the game with A Rift In Time DLC. You can obtain it and its first upgrade by completing the story quest, The Flying Metal Nuisance.
To get the second upgrade, Royal Hourglass Level 1, you need the following items:
- Mist x3,000
- Ancient Core (Level 1) x1
Once you have these items, you can head to the Timebending Table, purchase the Large Swirling Sands Hourglass Potion, and apply it to the Royal Hourglass.
