How Long To Beat
The Necromancer is arguably the strongest solo class in Diablo 4, and was one of the strongest overall in Loot Reborn, but is it still strong going into the Season of the Infernal Hordes?
If commanding an army of the undead or wielding bone and blood magic sounds like your ideas of a good time, this is the class for you - and the best builds listed below are the perfect way to go ahead!
Best Necromancer build in Diablo 4
This particular build that has come out on top is called the Minion build. This is a very passive way to approach the game and is perfect as you climb the levels - especially if you're new to the game and class.
As the name suggests the class involves using an army of your own creation, which essentially does all of the work for you. You'll be protected with ease and carried by your skeletal friends in any dungeon or boss fight, making the game a cakewalk.
Minion Necromancer build skills & abilities
Minion Necromancer Active Skills list
Ability Type | Active Ability |
Summoning |
Raise Skeleton Golem |
Core | Blood Surge (5/5 Paranormal) |
Corpse & Macabre |
Blood Mist (1/5 Ghastly) Corpse Tendrils (1/5 Plagued) |
Curse |
Iron Maiden (1/5 Enhanced) |
Ultimate |
Army of the Dead |
As you can see, these Active Skills focus very much on creating an incredibly effective army and clustering enemies to deal with them effectively.
It has very few weaknesses overall, outside of not quite matching the damage numbers of some more focused and active builds.
Infinimist Necromancer Passive Skills list
Ability Type | Passive Ability |
Core | Unliving Energy (1/3) |
Core | Imperfectly Balanced (3/3) |
Core | Hewed Flesh (3/3) |
Corpse & Macabre | Spiked Armour (2/3) |
Corpse & Macabre | Skeletal Warrior Mastery (3/3) |
Corpse & Macabre | Grim Harvest (1/3) |
Corpse & Macabre | Fueled by Death (3/3) |
Curse | Death's Embrace (3/3) |
Curse | Amplify Damage (3/3) |
Curse | Death's Approach (3/3) |

Corpse & Macabre | Necrotic Carapace (3/3) |
Ultimate | Golem Mastery (3/3) |
Ultimate | Inspiring Leader (3/3) |
Ultimate | Hellbent Commander (3/3) |
Key Passive | Kalan's Edict |
As you can probably imagine, the most important passives here are those that boost your summoned Minions, as they'll essentially be doing the job for you.
Kalan's Edict as the Key Passive is also super strong, as you'll ideally have as many Minions active at any one time, and as such their attack speed will be greatly enhanced.
Book of the Dead
Minion Type | Category |
Skeletal Warriors | Reapers |
Skeletal Mages | Cold |
Golems | Blood |
Minion Necromancer item stats list
When working towards the best Necromancer class build in Diablo 4 Season 5, you're going to want to be looking out for various item stat boosts to enhance your character further, whether you are playing in the Eternal realm or in one of the new seasons.
Thankfully, we've listed all of the key ones to keep your eyes on below to avoid any confusion, so make sure to prioritise those when you get any new weapons, armour, or jewellery:
Weapons
- Critical Strike Damage
- Damage
- Maximum Life
- Vulnerable Damage
- Intelligence
Armor
- Cooldown Reduction
- Golem/Skeletal Mage Mastery Ranks
- Maximum Life

- Movement Speed
- Intelligence
Jewellery

Recommended Legendary Aspects
Here are all of the Legendary Aspects that work well with the Minion Necromancer build:
Legendary Aspect | Location |
Blood-bathed | Hoarfrost Demise (Fractured Peaks) |
Disobedience | Halls of the Damned (Kehjistan) |
Grasping Veins | Corrupted Grotto (Kehjistan) |
Reanimation | Aldurwood (Scosglen) |
Unyielding Commander's | Faceless Shrine (Hawezar) |
Reanimation is arguably the strongest one that you can equip for this build, as it increases your Minions' damage by 25-40% after they've been alive for at least 10 seconds. As you'll have a whole army of Minions it's likely that most will stay afloat, making them even stronger across the board.
Unyielding Commander's Aspect is also essential as we're using Army of the Dead, as your Minions' damage is increased by 70-100% while their incoming damage taken is reduced by 90% - yes, you read that right! This only further incentivises using the skill, so it's definitely one to consider.
How good is the Necromancer?
Looking at our tier list, the Necromancer has scaled back up to an S tier in solo content, and a B tier in group content, meaning they are an incredibly viable class still going into Season 5.
They continue to be incredibly strong class which can do a lot of damage and also have great survivability. I found a lot of joy when using the Necromancer in the Helltide, as the sheer number of enemies was easy to take down by using the abilities at my disposal.
If the Necromancer isn't quite your thing though, you should definitely check out all of our other build guides instead:
