How Long To Beat
Diablo 4 mount skills are abilities that you can use while riding your mount to quickly attack as you dismount. Diablo 4 mercifully grants the player a mount for traversing the large open world, but not without earning it first.
Mount skills, like the Sorcerer's Freezing Wake, are a small but useful feature of the game, allowing players to quickly jump into the action. Here are all of the Diablo 4 mount skills and how to use them.
How to use mount skills
When you get on your mount, you will notice your skill bar changes to just three mount skills, two are universal, and the third is unique to your class. Using them is as simple as hitting the corresponding skill key.
What they do is a different story, as we will lay out in the table below:
Mount Skill | Skill Effect |
Dismount |
Get off your mount |
Spur | Spur your mount to move faster |
Freezing Wake (Sorcerer) | Become an ice wisp, and deal damage to nearby enemies |
Bone Spike (Necromancer) | Slam into the ground and create bone spikes around you |
Pummel (Druid) | Become a werebear, then slam the ground to do area-of-effect damage |
Bounding Slam (Barbarian) | Leap into the air and slam the ground twice |
Volley (Rogue) | Jump off your mount and fire a volley of arrows |
Each class-specific mount skill will have you leap off your mount, making them a great way to initiate combat. Using a mount skill like the Sorcerer's Freezing Wake can be followed up with many more attacks. If you happen upon a group of enemies in the open world, dropping on them with a mount skill will kick the fight off in your favour.
How to get mount skills
Acquiring mount skills is extremely simple, as they are unlocked as soon as you acquire your first mount. Getting a mount in the first place, that takes considerably more time. To get your first horse, you need to complete Act 2 and Act 3. Once both are done, you can begin Act 4.
At the beginning of Act 4, you will be sent to meet Donan in the Cathedral in Kyovashad. After speaking to him, he tells you to head to the Horadric Vault. At this point, speak to him again about getting a horse.
He will send you to the Stable Master in Kyovashad. Speak with him, and you will receive your first mount. As soon as you get your mount, you instantly have access to your mount skills, no need to jump through any more hoops.
