Diablo 4 is here, and with so much new content - ranging from the seamless open world to the MMO features - it can be easy to forget some of the more simple mechanics in the game like emoting. It's a staple of modern multiplayer gaming, but it's ultimately an optional feature that many players may not even know about.

So, check out everything you need to know about emotes in Diablo 4.

How do you use emotes?

You can use emotes anytime in Diablo 4 by pressing E on your keyboard, or up on the d-pad. This will bring up a radial menu with a series of emotes, which you can select with your mouse cursor or the left thumbstick.

There are also a total of three emote wheels, which can be cycled through with the middle mouse wheel, or the bumpers on a controller.

Once you have selected and confirmed an emote, your character will perform the action in-game.

How to customize emotes

While the emote wheel has plenty of actions you can perform, you may want to customize it so that your most favored ones appear first, or so you can add emotes that aren't automatically part of the radial menu.

This is a simple process, which we'll cover below:

  • Bring up the emote menu.
  • Select the 'Customise' option below the wheel.
  • A new window will appear on the right where you can select from a list of emotes.
  • Press the highlighted button on your chosen emote to move it to the radial menu.

There are multiple emotes available automatically, but you can earn more by buying them from bundles in the premium shop.

It's worth noting these bundles may cycle out of the store in the future, so there's no guarantee you'll be able to get them forever.

Here is a list of the default emotes:

  • Help
  • Sorry
  • Hello
  • Thanks
  • Point
  • Yes
  • Wait
  • Wave
  • Follow
  • Cheer
  • Bye
  • Taunt

Here's the list of premium emotes, along with the bundle they are part of as of June 6, 2023:

  • Poor Yorrick - Duality manifest bundle
  • Arise! - Death Throes bundle
  • Aberrant Oculus - Elder Symbology bundle
  • Power Unleashed - Sorcery Binding bundle
  • Easy Money - Weights and Measures bundle
  • Wolfsong - Tools of the Hunt bundle
  • "To War!" - The Lion's Share bundle
  • The Nine Tails - Atonement measures bundle

Lastly, for those who purchased the Ultimate edition of the game, you'll have access to the exclusive Wings of the Creator emote.
