When installing Diablo 4 for the first time, you might come across the option to install high-resolution assets. However, Blizzard doesn’t do a fantastic job of explaining what these high-resolution assets are, or if you should install them with your game at all.

So, keep reading to learn more about what the high-resolution assets are and whether you should download them yourself.

What are the high-resolution assets?

When installing Diablo 4 on PC, players have the option to choose whether they want to install high-resolution assets as an optional pack. These aren’t mandatory but can help to improve the visual quality of the game by a small amount.

Essentially, the normal version of the game includes meshes and textures that look just fine on normal screen resolutions like 1080p. However, when playing Diablo 4 on screens of higher resolutions, like 1440p or 4K, gameplay assets can look blurry or muddy.

So, if you’re playing the game on a high-resolution screen, and have the PC to support it, then it’s probably worth installing the high-resolution asset pack.

High-resolution assets PC system requirements

Diablo 4 can run fairly well on even a modest PC. However, if you want to install the high-resolution assets, then you’ll need to have a fairly powerful PC to support them

Here are the recommended PC system requirements if you want to utilize the Diablo 4 high-resolution assets. This means running the game at 4K, with the graphics settings set to extreme, while achieving a smooth 60fps:

Internet	Broadband Connection

As you can see, these system requirements aren’t for the faint of heart, so be absolutely sure that your PC is up to the task before downloading the Diablo 4 high-resolution asset pack.

How to install the Diablo 4 high-resolution assets on a PC

If you do decide to download the high-resolution assets, then installing them is a simple process.

You’re given the option to install the high-resolution assets when you first install the game. However, if you already have the game installed, then there is a simple way to download it afterwards:

Open up Battle.net and navigate to the Diablo 4 tab
Next to the “Play” button, click the small cog button to open the settings
Choose the “Modify Install” button
In the new window that opens up, click on “Modify Install” once again
Select the check box that says “High-Resolution Assets”
Click “Confirm”, and your high-resolution assets should begin to download and install

Now you should be all ready to enjoy Diablo 4’s graphical splendour in all its might. If your PC struggles to support the textures, you can uninstall them by following the same steps above and unchecking the “High-Resolution Assets” box once again.
