Destiny 2's Solstice event is a mainstay in the live-service shooter's calendar - but it'd be fair to say it feels tough to celebrate the game's journey with the recent announcement of yet more layoffs at developer Bungie.

That news understandably means no Bungie blog post this week about the event, but there's still plenty we do know about the event, including when it starts, what it involves, and some of the rewards. Naturally, we'll be sure to update this page as we learn more.

Destiny 2 Solstice 2024 start date

Solstice will kick off on August 6, meaning it'll arrive at weekly reset on this coming Tuesday.

The start time will be around 6 PM BST/10 AM PDT/1 PM EDT - but expect server queues and CAT errors as the patch rolls out to more players.

What to expect from Solstice 2024

While Bungie hasn't revealed a huge amount about the event this year, it's largely followed the same template since 2018 - despite previously being called Solstice of Heroes.

Players will likely need to defeat enemies from the four major enemy factions to get orbs to throw onto the bonfire. The bigger the bonfire, the bigger your reward as you work to convert Silver Leaves to Silver Ash.

Silver Ash is then used to upgrade Solstice armour, which itself tends to roll with pretty solid stats. That makes it an ideal time to farm armour for your build.

Naturally, things are a little different post-Final Shape. Will we get the Dread included in the Solstice enemies? Will players lean on Prismatic to dish out punishment to the enemies of the Vanguard? We'll find out soon.

It's also worth remembering that Solstice is an ideal place to farm kills you need for any weapon catalysts since there are plenty of enemies in the arena.

Solstice 2024 rewards

We do know what kind of rewards we'll be earning, at least to a point. We don't yet have confirmation on what weapons will be offered (if any) as part of Solstice (last year we got Crowning Duologue), but we do have a look at the armour sets for each class.

Each is inspired by a theme of exploration, giving them a sort of old-timey, leather-like feel.
