Destiny 2 Season of Plunder is finally underway, and we have much to keep us entertained. Destiny 2 has a lot of new content on the way, but the focus for right now is what is in front of us. Season of Plunder sees us putting on our pirate hats and fighting ship to ship with some Eliksni scallywags. Here is everything you need to know about Destiny 2 Season of Plunder.
- We finally have official word on the next subclass, learn more about it in our Destiny 2 Strand subclass guide.
Destiny 2 Season of Plunder: New Seasonal Activities
A new season means we need new things to do. In line with the theme of the Season of Plunder, this season's new activities revolve around leading your ship's crew in ketch-on-ketch battles against pirates, searching for buried treasure, and taking down the toughest privateers in the galaxy.
The first of these modes is Ketchcrash, a six-player matchmade activity where you and other Guardians must defend your ketch, before boarding the enemy's and taking them down from the inside. Then you have Expeditions, in which up to three Guardians can head off in search of buried treasure, which they will need to defend from enterprising marauders. Finally you have Pirate Hideouts, missions in which Guardians must find and defeat powerful Pirate Lords.
These themed activities will have Guardians throughout the system swashbuckling to their heart's content, with plenty of loot to hoard and enemy crews to make walk the plank.
- Learn more about the mods you will be using in our Destiny 2 Season 18 artifact mods guide.
Destiny 2 Season of Plunder: New Weapons And Armour
You can't be a pirate unless you look the part. As you might expect, there are plenty of pirate-themed items coming to Destiny 2 this season. Everything from helmets with eyepatches, to weapons designed to evoke flintlocks and blunderbusses. The new additions are not simply limited to things that look pirate-y, as there are new exotics as well.
Hunters get the Gyrfalcon's Hauberk, an exotic chest piece that grants bonus damage when the Hunter emerges from invisibility. Titans have Point-Contact Cannon Brace, new gauntlets that make the Thunderclap melee ability grant melee energy and hit nearby enemies with lightning. Then for the Warlocks, there is the Fallen Sunstar helmet, which improves ionic traces and also grants ability energy to nearby allies when ionic traces are collected.
Three new exotic weapons have been added to the game. The Delicate Tomb fusion rifle is available through the season pass. This arc weapon fires horizontal bursts when fired from the hip, and has a chance to grant ionic traces when defeating powerful enemies.
Next is the Quicksilver Storm auto rifle, which is a pre-order bonus for the Lightfall annual pass. This kinetic auto rifle generates homing rockets as you fire, and rocket hits generate grenades that can also be fired from the weapon.
Finally, although it cannot yet be seen in-game, the King's Fall raid exotic has been revealed to be Touch of Malice. This returning scout rifle may have some changes from the Destiny original, we will have to wait until Friday to find out.
That is it for the new content in Destiny 2 Season of Plunder. For more on the game, check out our rundown of the Destiny 2 Lightfall release date and more.
