Can you play as Venom in Marvel's Spider-Man 2?
Yes, you do get to play as Venom in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 - specifically, later in the story during the “Don’t Be Scared” main mission. This happens right after the end of the previous mission “Anything Can Be Broken” where Peter is finally able to rip the symbiote off of him thanks to Miles, subduing it in a small container.
As Peter arrives at Oscorp Tower with the container in hand, Harry, who’s initially relieved to see he can finally be cured again by re-merging with the symbiote, becomes angry when he realises his best friend and Dr. Connor's plan to destroy it instead.
After accidentally chipping the container’s glass with his cane, the symbiote soon breaks its glass prison and once again merges with Harry after knocking out Peter. The difference this time, however, in a way similar to the comics, the symbiote’s time fused with Spider-Man has granted new powers and strengths to its new host - taking the iconic form of Venom, who you’ll get to control for the rest of this mission.
How long do you get to play as Venom in Spider-Man 2?
You’ll get to play as Venom in Marvel’s Spider-Man for just over 20 minutes altogether, as you’ll storm your way through Oscorp fighting your way through security with heavy tank-like melee attacks and symbiote powers - then landing in Times Square before fighting Hunters and even Kraven as well.
Even though you now know you’ll get to play as Venom in the game, the experience itself is still a welcome surprise. This quick, but epic, mission as the symbiote villain himself hits the mark by merely tweaking the style of the Spider-Man series combat to feel different entirely.
