With the 7-Star Rillaboom Tera Raid back in the game, more Pokemon fans will be wondering whilst playing Scarlet & Violet what the best Rillaboom counters are. As it was in the first round, this Mightiest Mark has been just as tough as the Delphox Tera Raid or the Chesnaught Tera Raid.

Without further ado, including their full builds and movesets, let's dive right into how to beat Rillaboom with the best counters for this challenging 7-Star Raid.

When will the 7-Star Rillaboom Tera Raid return in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet?

Rillaboom, the latest 7-Star Tera Raid boss in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

Confirmed on an official Pokemon forum post in July, the date and time of the 7-Star Rillaboom Tera Raid returning is Friday, August 4, 2023, at 00:00 UTC until Sunday, August 6, 2023, at 23:59 UTC.

Not normally catchable in Paldea, Rillaboom or its base form, Grookey, currently aren't among the list of Pokemon that can be transferred from past games via Pokemon HOME either.

So, the Rillaboom Tera Raid is currently the only way to obtain the Drummer Pokemon in Scarlet & Violet.

How to find the Rillaboom Tera Raid in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

The 7-Star Rillaboom Tera Raid boss in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

Like when searching for active 7-Star raids from the past, the Rillaboom Tera Raid can be easily found in Scarlet & Violet by looking out for the black crystals on the map.

Normally a Grass type, the Mightiest Mark Rillaboom will be sporting a Normal Tera Type. So, you'll need to spot the black crystal for the Normal-type symbol on it to identify the raid's location.

This Mightiest Mark Rillaboom has a varied moveset including Acrobatics, Body Slam, Boomburst, Bulk Up, Drum Beating, Growth, and Low Kick - giving it decent type coverage and Attack stat boosts.

So, in order to beat this 7-Star Tera Raid, you'll need one of the best Rillaboom Tera Raid counters listed below.

Corviknight

With dual-typing that makes it resistant to all of the 7-Star boss' moves, Corviknight is the first amongst Rillaboom counters that come to mind with good reason. Many players might default to using a Fighting type against the Normal Tera Type Mightiest Mark, but Rillaboom having the Flying-type Acrobatics in its moveset makes that tactic incredibly dangerous.

So, Corviknight is one of the best options in how to beat Rillaboom with its Flying-and-Steel typing and natural bulk.

The Corviknight Rillaboom Tera Raid build is as follows:

  • Ability: Mirror Armor
  • Nature: Impish
  • Tera Type: Fighting
  • Hold Item: Shell Bell
  • EVs: 252 HP, 252 Def, 4 Speed
  • Moveset: Body Press, Iron Defense, Roost, Screech

Whilst further building up its resistance to Rillaboom's physical attacks by using Iron Defense, the other end of this best Corviknight build to beat the 7-Star boss lies in the Fighting-type move, Body Press. Using the Defense stat to determine damage instead of the Attack stat, Body Press is the perfect move to use to deliver massive damage after using Iron Defense to raise the Defense stat.

As you're ready to deliver the final blow, you can then Terastallize your Corviknight into a Fighting type to inflict even larger damage with Body Press thanks to STAB (Same-Type Attack Bonus). Although, you should only do this if you're towards the end of the raid, as this type change will make Corviknight more of a glass cannon since it will now be available to Acrobatics.

Ceruledge

Completely immune to Normal and Fighting attacks whilst being 50% resistant to Grass-type moves, Ceruledge, is a stellar addition amongst the best Rillaboom counters since it's also a strong physical attacker to boot.

The best Ceruledge Rillaboom Tera Raid build is as follows:

  • Ability: Flash Fire
  • Nature: Adamant
  • Tera Type: Fire
  • Hold Item: Shell Bell
  • EVs: 252 Atk, 252 HP, 4 Def
  • Moveset: Bitter Blade, Close Combat, Reflect, Swords Dance

With Reflect as defensive support for your raid party and Swords Dance to boost your Attack, Ceruledge will be able to recover much of the health Rillaboom does manage to inflict with Grass moves as you use Bitter Blade and the held Shell Bell.

To inflict most of your damage, this is where the incredibly powerful and accurate Close Combat comes into play. Normally, this would be a dangerous move to use for yourself since it lowers the user's Defense and Special Defense stats.

In the case of the 7-Star Rillaboom vs Ceruledge on the other hand, the latter's resistance to all of the Mightiest Mark's moves makes this a perfect combo to beat the raid.

Arceus

Arceus in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

Although only available by transferring via Pokemon HOME, Arecus is a great contender to beat Rillaboom in the Tera Raid thanks to its well-balanced stats, incredible movepool, and unique ability.

With the Multitype ability changing its type depending on the plate it's holding, making Arecus a Ghost type will make the Alpha Pokemon immune to half of Rillaboom's damage-inflicting moves. That's along with the potential as a special attacker to inflict large amounts of damage that will bypass Rillaboom's boosted Defense by Bulk Up.

The best Arceus Rillaboom Tera Raid build is as follows:

  • Ability: Multitype
  • Nature: Modest
  • Tera Type: Fighting
  • Hold Item: Spooky Plate
  • EVs: 252 Sp. Atk, 252 HP, 4 Def
  • Moveset: Acid Spray, Aura Sphere, Calm Mind, Giga Drain

Enjoying getting zero damage from Rillaboom's Normal and Fighting-type attacks thanks to the Spooky Plate making it a Ghost Pokemon, Arceus can lower the foes' Special Defense with Acid Spray - dropping two stages per use. This will also help Arceus recoup more health when using Giga Drain.

Acid Spray, Calm Mind, and Giga Drain should be then used in conjunction with the Fighting-type Aura Sphere to make Arceus inflict super-effective damage and recover more health as the raid goes on.

When ready to inflict the final blow, you can Terastallize your Arceus into a Fighting type for more STAB damage with Aura Sphere. Like with Corviknight though, you must be wary since this will also make Arceus vulnerable to Acrobatics.

That's everything you need to know about the best Rillaboom counters for the 7-Star Tera Raid on how to beat the Normal Tera Type Mightiest Mark - with their full abilities and movesets. In summary, the best Rillaboom counters are Corviknight, Ceruledge, and Arecus
