Battlefield 2042 Specialists: Traits, Abilities, Roles, and More

Battlefield 2042 Specialists are part of DICE's revamp of the series, by adopting hero shooter elements and ditching the class system of previous entries. Whether you like it or not, the specialists are now a part of Battlefield, and with the game out in the wild we have finally gotten our hands on all ten of them. With each specialists bringing their own unique skills and abilities, we've got a breakdown of every Battlefield 2042 specialist. 

Battlefield 2042 Specialists: Roles

The ten Battlefield 2042 Specialist characters will be split into four roles, with each squad getting to pick any that suits their playstyle. You'll not be able to double up in Hazard Zone, so you'll have to check out our Battlefield 2042 Hazard Zone tips to see how else to get ahead. 

Assault, Engineer, Recon, and Support roles house the specialists, with each of the individuals in their respective roles having abilities that help assist that specific unit. For instance, a Support Specialists like "Angel" revives allies with additional armour, and can drop loadout crates for his teammates. 

Battlefield 2042 Specialists: EMMA "SUNDANCE" ROSIER (ASSAULT) 

Emma "Sundance" Rosier is easily one of the coolest new Battlefield 2042 Specialist, as they comes equipped with a Wingsuit. We're sure this French Assault Specialist will be the source of plenty of classic Battlefield moments. 

Speciality

Smart Explosives - With three different variants, Sundance's Smart Explosives range from scatter grenades to anti-armour that will track onto helicopters. 

Trait

Wingsuit Operator - Sundance is the only Specialist that equips a Wingsuit instead of a parachute, which can be used to quickly traverse Battlefield 2042's enormous maps

Battlefield 2042 Specialists - SANTIAGO "DOZER" ESPINOZA (ASSAULT) 

The next Battlefield 2042 Specialist is Santiago "Dozer" Espinoza. This Assault Specialist from Mexico is your go-to aggressor and will likely be among the most popular Specialist in Battlefield 2042. 

Speciality: 

SOB-8 Ballistic Shield - Use this shield battering ram which protects from incoming fire as a way to push up on enemy forces. It also seems to have some form of deflection ability, as seen in the Specialist trailer, however it isn't mentioned in the official Battlefield 2042 page. 

Trait: 

Blast Resistant - Dozer is especially resistant to explosive damage, allowing you to run through incoming enemy fire with ease.

Battlefield 2042 Specialists - WEBSTER MACKAY (ASSAULT)

As the first revealed Assault Battlefield 2042 Specialist, Mackay loves getting in the thick of it. With a Tarzan-esque Speciality, Mackay will swing through the map to gain any height advantages - or make a speedy getaway.

Speciality:

Grappling Hook – Fires a rope that attaches to surfaces. When attached, the rope is retracted and the player gets pulled towards the attach point.

Trait: 

Nimble – Allows the player to move more quickly while aiming down sights, further enhancing their speed-related advantages.

Battlefield 2042 Specialists - KIMBLE ‘IRISH’ GRAVES (ENGINEER)

Having seen his fair share of war spoils, Graves is out on the battlefield to prevent any more of his teammates from having to be buried. A solid Battlefield 2042 Specialist for an Assault Rifle main.

Speciality:

Fortification System – Includes the DCS Deployable Dover to protect from bullets and explosives, and the APS-36 Shootdown Sentinel to take down explosive projectiles.

Trait:

Veteran – Provides armour, with additional bonuses from downed enemies.

Battlefield 2042 Specialists - PYOTR ‘BORIS’ GUSKOVSKY (ENGINEER)

As the second Engineer, Boris isn't here to defend his fortifications, he's here to make them a castle that fights back. With a taste for an electronic helping hand, Boris will prove quite an asset to any Battlefield 2042 Specialist team.

Speciality:

SG-36 Sentry System – Automatically spots and engages enemy targets detected within a certain area.

Trait:

Sentry Operator – Spots the enemy target when the sentry gun locks on to the enemy in question.

Battlefield 2042 Specialists - WIKUS ‘CASPER’ VAN DAELE (RECON)

Casper, sharing the name of the famous ghost, will use his ghillie suit to become like his namesake and deliver recon for his team. 

Speciality:

OV-P Recon Drone – Spots nearby moving targets and can disorient enemies by using EMP blasts. Can also designate targets for lock-on weapons

Trait:

Movement Sensor – Alerts the player to approaching enemies, both while boots on the ground and while piloting the Recon Drone

Battlefield 2042 Specialists - NAVIN RAO (RECON) 

The next Battlefield 2042 Specialists is Navin Rao, an Indian Recon Specialist who loves to do a handy spot of hacking. From barriers removal to enemy tagging, Rao is one of the harder Specialists to master, but is a valuable asset if utilised correctly. 

Speciality:

Cyber Warfare Suite - This ability allows Rao to hack into environmental equipment, such as bollards, which can open and block paths. 

Trait: 

Trojan Network - Hacking and killing enemies will reveal their nearby squad mates, making for an excellent pushing strategy.

Battlefield 2042 Specialists - JI-SOO PAIK (RECON)

Ji-Soo Paik has some serious potential to be the most overpowered Battlefield 2042 Specialist. This South Korean Recon Specialist has the ability to see enemies through walls, and dominates in those tighter-knit areas. 

Speciality

EMG-X Scanner - Displaying an electromagnetic overlay, you will be able to spot nearby enemies in cover. Undoubtedly the Battlefield community will have something to say about this.

Trait

Threat Perception - When taking damage, Paik can triangulate on the shooter and return fire. This will allow you to duck into cover and line up your shot before putting yourself in danger.

Battlefield 2042 Specialists - MARIA FALCK (SUPPORT)

The only Media Battlefield 2042 Specialist at the time of writing is Falck. A devoted mother searching for her son. She uses her motherhood to look after her squad and make sure the team don't walk around without a hot cup of tea.

Speciality:

S21 Syrette Pistol – Fires a syringe at friendlies to provide healing. The pistol won’t revive friendlies at range, just heal them. If fired at an enemy, the syringe will do damage.

Trait:

Combat Surgeon – Allows the player to return downed allies to combat with full health when reviving.

Battlefield 2042 Specialists: CONSTANTIN "ANGEL" ANGHEL (SUPPORT)

In another case of mixing up the meta, Constantin "Angel" Anghel is a Support Specialist for Medic fans. Along with a loadout swapper, this Romanian Battlefield 2042 Specialist brings back players with additional armour.  

Speciality

Loadout Crate - With BF 2042's large sprawling maps, Angel's Loadout Crate will allow you to switch to your pre-made class types. This will be great when you in dire need of a sniper, or are looking for something more close ranged. 

Trait

Trauma Specialist - Angel can revive an ally with full bonus armour health filled, which will be a huge help to squads trying to hold down a zone.
