You'll want to know how to speak to the dead in Baldur's Gate 3 by finding the Amulet of Lost Voices location. Baldur's Gate 3 allows players to interact with the game in many strange and wonderful ways, including the dead.

Speak to the dead is an interesting ability that allows you to temporarily reanimate a dead person for one final chat. Here is everything you need to know about speaking to the dead in Baldur's Gate 3, with the Amulet of Lost Voices or not.

How can you speak to the dead in Baldur's Gate 3?

Speaking to a corpse in Baldur's Gate 3

There are a frankly remarkable number of ways to speak to dead people in Baldur's Gate 3. That said, they all generally fall under the umbrella of using the "Speak with the Dead" spell, but there are a number of ways to do so.

Of the classes in the game, only wizards can learn the spell naturally. If you play as a wizard, you can learn this handy spell to use when you like. Clerics and Paladins can use the spell, but only in very specific instances, as doing so is a breach of their oaths.

You can also gain this spell by reading the Necromancy of Thay. This book is found in a secret cellar we have discussed in another guide, so follow that guide if you want to find it. Once inside the secret cellar, interact with the large mirror to get into the lab. The Necromancy of Thay is behind the iron door there, but be careful as it is littered with traps. Once you have the book, read it to gain the spell.

There is another option, particularly if your character is not magically inclined. For this, you will need to track down the Amulet of Lost Voices.

How to find the Amulet of Lost Voices in Baldur's Gate 3

Picking up the Amulet of Lost Voices in Baldur's Gate 3

The Amulet of Lost Voices allows any character in Baldur's Gate 3 to speak to the recently deceased. To find the amulet, head to the Overgrown Ruins east of the Roadside Cliffs. Drop down the hole into the underground area.

Go through the door ahead of you then go left. On your right you will find a door that cannot be opened, so keep going straight ahead into the next room. At the far end of this room, behind the large statue, you will find a mechanism that opens the door.

Go back out and through the now open door. Go through the ornate door into the Dank Crypt. Inside the crypt, you will find several sets of large oak doors. Go through the doors to the north and to the far side of that room. Up the stairs, you will find a door and a button beside it to open it.

Pressing the button opens the door, but also awakens many of the undead in the area, so be prepared to fight your way out. Inside the room that just opened you will find another sarcophagus, and also a chest. Inspect the chest to find the Amulet of Lost Voices within.

You'll also find Withers here, who lets you change class or respec your skills.

Now you need only equip the amulet and assign the spell to speak to the dead as much as you please.

That will do it for our Baldur's Gate 3 speaking to the dead guide. For more on the game, head to our Baldur's Gate 3 homepage or check out our Baldur's Gate 3 crafting guide.
